I could imagine Parker at Everton . They want a midfielder .  But those two would be great with Benteke and the young signings

Can't see it happening but would be delighted if true- they would add quality and experience and I'd be very happy with the transfer window business if it were to happen.

Can I just remind everyone that this is Clint Dempsey we are talking about.

I don't for one minute believe Villa were seriously after Dempsey. 

Dempsey has been Liverpool bound all summer; he's probably already chosen his new Merseyside home and school for the kids at this stage.  Dempsey is so far removed from the profile of player that Lambert is targeting that I can only conclude the "bid" was made to put the willies up Genk.  I don't know, maybe the story came from Fulham in order to squeeze top dollar from the Scousers, but I'm fairly sure signing Dempsey would just not fit in with what Lambert's trying to do at Villa Park.

Whilst he doesn't fit the normal age criteria of his "normal" signings I think Dempsey is definitely a hard working  team player (one of the main things that Lambert looks for)  Dempsey doesn't appear (to me)  to have a big ego or a suspect attitude like so many of the forwards available on big money / wages (ie Berbatov / Owen / K Jones)
