Meanwhile, former Liverpool winger Ryan Babel has been offered to Aston Villa, Swansea and Reading for a cut-price £2m by German side Hoffenheim, according to The Times.

Can we please stop mentioning James Milner

He has left us for money and trophies

He will not be coming back - ever
Now lets please move on and forward - if you must discuss him then please can we have a Milner thread rather than trawl through pages on here about him - this is a transfer thread - and he aint coming back

do you think he will ever come back though Hookey  ?

Presumably nonsense, but I'd say he was probably worth risking £2m on.

I always rated him during his time at liverpool, he just never had a run of games to be consistent enough.

Rather have him in the team than CNZ put it that way!

I used to quite rate former players James Milner and Stewart Downing.  Does anybody remember them, and think that they'll ever play for Villa again?

If he's that good why is he being offered to clubs cheap?

I thought he looked class in the under 21 tournament for Holland before he signed for Liverpool.
He never delivered on his potential at Anfield.
I'd give him a miss TBH.

I really like the way all Lambert's quotes emphasise the importance of new players to the team ethic he is developing: 'helping the team', 'his input will be great for the team', 'important to how we want to play as a team'.

Can we have a word filter for James Milner.

To be replaced with 'Ugly bastard who isn't coming back'.

A little bird tells me we are in negotiations to bring back Janes Milner, Stewart Downing, Pongo Waring and the old Trinity Road stand,

If I remember rightly he played as a striker in that tournament, but then Liverpool only ever played him wide?

He's one of those classic 'there's a good player in there somewhere', but even at £2m we need someone to hit the ground running right now and not be looking at another development project.
