In the mirror, trying for a loan with cut price option to buy. Exactly the type we need to get the crowd going.

£11m sounds a bit steep for an unproven youngster. I'd expect a compromise or plan b some time in the next 48 hours.

Indeed it does.

Wouldn't piss on him if he was on fire.
He treated us like crap after we had stuck by him when he was injured and then a bit crap- he chose to leave us in the way that he did and I hope he never comes near VP again.

Didn't really take to him when he was here (although he was good). Weasel really suits him.

Better than N'Zogbia and Albrighton though. So I'd take him on a loan.

Rodgers' quotes on Carroll. The winger talk sort of suggests Downing -

Quote
“Obviously, I have seen a lot of the links and it is great that those players would want to come here, but the reality is that we are not in a position to do those sort of deals at this stage,” Rodgers said. “The reality is, financially, we need to repair, so the players being linked for the money mentioned, I don’t have the ability to sign in this window.

“I respect players and I’m precise with my information so they know where they stand. We all come into the profession knowing what the job is. Ultimately, it comes down to what your objective is as a player.

“I can only be straight. I’ve made it clear I have a 1 to 11, cover players and development players. Some of the development players may become starters. If you fit outside that, I will tell you. Then it’s up to the player. Does the player want to play football?

“You don’t need to be a rocket scientist to see Andy has been a cover player for us and has been excellent in terms of his attitude and acceptance of where he is at, but as a football club, I don’t think we are in a position to have £35 million players as third-choice strikers, or wingers who are on £5 million-£6 million a year. This is the challenge I have.”

We could do worse than Downing on loan.
From the same article (I think) in the Guardian online - Rodgers actually states that Downing could be a "modern" attacking left back! Does that mean he doesn't have to do any tackling?
Rodgers then goes on to discuss the Carroll situation.

Yes agree fully. Saw this in the Guardian that cheered me up:

"Downing may have to play left-back if he wants to stay at Liverpool"

I say rot in hell.

So we've signed KEA, Vlaar and Lowton for about the same price as a "Right Charlie" N'zogbia, and Bennet for less than half the price of a Steve Sidwell I'd rather Lambert is allowed to continue making the signings.

Still would not be shocked if we went after Carroll.

I'd be delighted with Zarate. He is the type of player that IMO would compliment Bent very well. Really hope that comes off.

re Downing, really hope he doesn't come back.

He will come Friday, Genk will relent.

Like the Zarate link.
I hope so, I like the look of him. Is this the same Zarate who was at SHA?

Hopefully Beneke will join. I'm sure we can work something out with Genk. It's down to them. The player seems keen.

Bowery is an interesting punt. I wouldn't be hugely concerned with his goals tally at that age. Perhaps too, if he's quite technically gifted, it's sometimes harder in the lower leagues to shine. I'm sure Lamberts had him well scouted. He's 6ft 1 so perhaps he'll offer some physical presence. I'd guess that he's got a turn of pace as I'd imagine Lambo would want that. Bring it on. He'll be here to push Wiemann and Fonz. More so Fonz.

Zarate, if we're looking at him would be decent. He's got a lot of ability. He's unpredictable. He could turn out to be another CNZ however, but I'd take that risk. We'd be more threatening from set pieces anyway because he's got good delivery. Doubt we'd get him though. So I won't hold my breath.

If we were to get in a CM, as well as 1-2 strikers then we'll have done good business in the window. We'll see.

This does not look good.

Clearly still a bit of work to do. I expect this one to go to the wire and to give SSN something to get excited about on Friday night.
