Not a fan of Delph at all to be honest.  Why we paid £8m for a division 3 youngster I'll never know, especially when we had lots of youngsters of our own at the time.
Flippin heck, his price rises by the minute.
We didn't pay £8m for him, nearer £5m

Edit: read a few more pages  ::)

Having seen Bannan play again in that very deep quarter back role last night it got me thinking about Charlie Adam. Adam's range of passing and dead ball delivery is considerably better than Bannan's and think he would be a vast improvement. If he was available, I think we should try and get him

It was £6m, rising to £8m.

Benteke. Bennett and Ince and I would be quite happy

They'll have to order a bigger supply of the letters B, E, N and T for printing on shirts in the club shop though.

Delph looked decent v West Ham.

If his injury hell is behind him then we could have a decent player there.

I think that's part of our problem as the midfield as it stands has quite a few 'decent' players, but not enough stand out ones.  And those that could be, Ireland & N'Zogbia, aren't really performing for us.  At the moment, I'd say only KEA is in that 'must play' category.  I know it's only 3 games in, but I think finding the right balance in there is key to our season.

LB - seems we have got Bennett (Dont know anything about him) in our sights

CM - would love a tough tackling, all action player - sort of Scott Parkeresque (have heard from V.Good source that they were offered Huddlestone but PL turned it down)

CF - Dont know a great deal about Benetake - but he looks like a huge battering ram so that could be intersting

Honestly think we will get another 3 players in and one of them will be a "out of the blue "appointment - lets hope so

Or perhaps they have already ordered too many by mistake, and PL has been told that any new signings have to have B, E, N and T in their name.

AVFCMysteryman on twitter (Yes I know) has said the club has fielded a couple of enquiries for Darren Bent. Let's just hope the response was **** off. (1 London club, 1 Spanish Club)

Sorry but this post is just very very strange to me.  You're basically saying that, having seen Bannan put in a man of the match performance, it has prompted you to want us to sign a replacement for him?

Moving away from that Adam would be a very poor signing for me.  Not for his ability (which is massively overstated by people who have watched him on highlights anyway) but more for his attitude.  If we sign another central midfielder in this window I want it to be someone who can be a leader, we just don't have that in midfield at the moment.  Someone who sets the tempo of the play and gets us doing the right things for the match situation, rather than falling back into the bad habits of last year (like we did against Everton) when things go wrong.

Not only would that make us better immediately but that attitude is something that players like Bannan, Delph, Albrighton, etc need to adopt.

Good point!

I've watched the Youtube clip of Benteke, and erm, aren't they supposed to make the player in question look like world-beater by putting all of their best bits in one 30 second clip?  I have to say he looks a bit  donkeyish.  Sorry.

Firstly, I didn't think Bannan was man of the match, in my opinion it was Stephen Ireland. I also think Charlie Adam has a better range of passing than Bannan and would therefore be an improvement on Bannan. I like Darren Bent, and think he's a great goalscorer, but if we could sell him and sign Messi I would, because (like Adam), I think he is a better player than the player we have playing there at the moment?

AVFCMysteryman is fake account who spouts complete and utter bollocks so I wouldn't put any weight on what he claims.

The LB search may have to go on...apparently Bennett is considering staying at Boro.

Well let's hope we have a few options, because it's getting very close now.
