Makes you wonder whether long term planning is taking priority over short term safety. Stick with the plan of developing a younger team, and even if relegation occurs, it may not be too bad financially for a year with younger and cheaper players, and in the long term the team will be stronger and the finances better balanced.

Yes, I think it will get worse before it gets better, though I don't think we'll go down this season. I can see a tough few months ahead.

BBC now reporting we've failed in a bid for the Young Belgian now.

Sky have said the boy's gone on strike though. I think this one is coming to us.

Benteke's gone on strike, say Sky sources. Fair play comrade.

I'm not a fan if this new phenomenon of players going on strike to force a move.

I am, of course, prepared to overlook it in this instance.

Let's hope then that he sets the world on fire for us, drives us on to CL glory before he handcuffs himself to the goalposts at HT of our game vs Man City with a 4-0 lead demanding we accept a £60m bid from Real Madrid.

I had to laugh at the comment that if you have Bent on your shirt you can just have EKE made and stick that on the end as required !!

I'll never forget Yorke mooching round the pitch against Everton, like a stroppy teenager being dragged round B&Q instead of being allowed out with his mates.

In all fairness, even if he did act like a dick about it like that I'd take it.

So this European striker we were after is not a French farmer but a Belgian footballer!

His agent is saying that Gent want way way above what we have offered (5.5m) so it appears to be a no-go this window.

I just hope PL has other targets as time isn't on our side here.

His club reckon he is as good as Hazard and want as much as he went for i.e £32m..............

A left back and a central midfielder would do for now at a push, a striker as well would be ideal, but it does not sound promising with Benteke right now with regard to agreeing a fee.
