The Express & Star article whilst accurately summarising our performance on Saturday is way off the mark.
WHY WOULD LERNER WANT TO DESTROY HIS INVESTMENT? It does not make sense.
It's full of disrespect due to the fact that Lerner will not talk to the local Press boys and nothing more. It's  main ploy is to tickle the nerves of the supporters who are already at the edge after last season to start  up a "we hate Lerner" "Lerner out" frenzy.

Let's wait and see what happens this week and where we are after 10 games before we start panicking.

It was the Daily Express mate.

That Expeess article us written in a somewhat hyperbolic style but the basic facts - that we've been in decline since we stopped replacing the players we sold, that the squad is over reliant on young players many of whom aren't good enough, is really hard to deny.

Getting Gabby back will give us more options but I'm not sure Gabby, Dunne and Albrighton back is going to do much to solve our main problem.

The squad is horribly weak, it was too weak two years ago and since then has been getting weaker and weaker.

I understand why Randy might want to restrict spending but a net spend of, what, 7m doesn't even start to replace the players who have just left / been told they have no future.

Hopefully Randy will remember how close we came to relegation last season and rectify that this week. We need several players in and they have to be decent ones who can perform now, good future prospects won't be enough,

That article really is terrible, pretty much all it says is, "Kenwright won't give Everton money but likes talking to us so we like him, we liked Lerner whilst he was funding our favourite son but since he stopped and won't talk to us we hate him and he's clearly trying to destroy the club."

I love the way they paint the situation with MoN leaving as him being forced out because of spending restrictions, anyone who's done any research on the club at all would understand why he was put on a sell to buy policy, it was there for all to see with 90% of turnover as wages.

There is speculation in the papers this morning that we might be in for Kevin Doyle. If that happens it will show how far we have fallen from
all that promise of three years ago.

He runs around a lot .......and thats it.

I'd prefer Mrs Doyle from Father Ted
or Mike Doyle and he's dead.

I see no good reason to sign Kevin Doyle. I hope that isn't true.

We can't be too fussy. Doyle would improve us, he is a grafter who comes deep to link up the play and has a decent long shot on him. And, most importantly, he he isn't an ego.

Anybody see this? EL Ahmadi's take on his first home game...

He wouldn't improve us. He's a very ordinary championship level striker with a poor goal scoring record and we need more than somebody who knocks it about between midfield and attack without being any kind of threat.

We could easily do better without being fussy.
