I actually think Gabby will make a big difference, and I am probably one of his biggest critics. We are painfully slow, and Gabby will change that.

If nothing else Gabby offers pace and movement, something we had non of yesterday until Holman came on.

Holman was okay, but I thought Weimann was crucial, he moved really well between the lines. Up until then we just had this vast chasm between midfield and attack.

So Weimann was playing like how Robbie Keane would?

I think we're still learning about which players best suit the formation. From yesterday, I think Baker should be played ahead of Clark, Delph ahead of Bannan, Weimann alongside Bent and N'Zogbia still isn't doing anything to justify a place in the team. Holman played a really good through ball for Weimann to hit the post and I think Carruthers could be an important player in the in-out role behind the front pair. Carruthers, based on the small amount of time he had last season is one who could provide that bit of unpredicability that we need.

Gabby and Albrighton will offer a lot.

Gabby is a fantastic outlet ball. He can hold the ball up, run the channels and link up with Bent. His pace will get in behind the oppositions back four and so that will prevent them squeezing our midfield. The more open our midfield the more players like Delph, KEA, Ireland and Bannan can dictate the play. Gabby has that strength to hold the ball up and bring others into the game too. He'll be very important for us once he's back.

Albrighton is a player that will pin oppositions full-backs back and actually put in some deliveries for Bent. He's one of the few players that can run at a defender and beat him. The only other players like that are Gabby and N'Zogbia, ones out injured and the other has no final ball.

Both will be very important for us and excel under Lambert.

Think Palacios would do a good job for us sitting in front of the back four if we could persuade Stoke to do a deal.

Pace for sure, his movement is non existant though.

When he's at his best, he runs off defenders for the ball out wide and then creates space in the centre for others. Again something we are missing its all too narrow at times

Herd on the right did not work however I am convinced he does and will work in centre alongside Karim.
Herd was on the right - I presumed yesterday - to counter the Baines runs. He ended up doing a lot of defending agaisnt Fellaini, whcih I thought he did okay on.
Herd's a good and improving player.

Agree, although I'd include Herd in there alongside KEA, and I think that Clark still has some sort of a role.

Disagree strongly with that. We were crying out for the sort of option her gives us yesterday.

He also makes the opposition play differently, they know they can't push up too much as he has the pace to kill them so it creates more space for others to play in.

Think with Clark suspended we will see a better defensive pairing of  Baker\Vlaar Baker seems very sharp at the moment and reads the game very well. But we need a LB more than ever now .....

Your pretty much agreeing with me then.
