Back to the football. How would you guys feel about Michael Owen rocking up at VP this week on a PAY FOR PLAY contract.
I know he's 32 that's why I said pay for play.

Owen is a no-no for me. By the time he was 27 his best days were behind him and even on a pay as you play deal he'd be a waste of money.

A more limited player than Robbie Keane was but still a better bet than the Fonz. I'd prefer he promoted Weimann IF we don't buy anyone of real note.

The only sport that Owen is interested is horse racing. He has no interest in football anymore.

They weren't the words that came out of his mouth this morning on the radio. In fact quite the opposite. Which is why I asked the question.

Apparently he uses football to fund his gee-gees. A bench warming contract at Man Utd was ideal for him. What did he say on the radio?

He was on 5Live saying that although he's 32 he thinks he's still got a couple of seasons left in him and when  asked about the horses he said that he loves the sport and has a small business interest in it and that's as far as it goes. He intends to stay in football when he stops playing and is in the process of doing his coaching badges.

What point would Owen be? We can't get the ball to the goalscorer we already have. Having another one isn't going to help.

That's fair enough. There were plenty of rumours doing the rounds that he didn't even like football. As a player I don't think he has the  nous to use his experience to make up for his speed going.
