I'd had a lovely off-season too not having to worry about this shit.  I'm beginning to dread the football season.

I feel the same. I also feel conned that I decided to renew my Season Ticket. If I knew how things would pan out I wouldn't have renewed. I was very reluctant to do so this season. Lerner has ruined this club.

Alternative view is that Lerner allowed MON to shoot for the top 4, he failed and since Lerner has been preventing us becoming Leeds or Portsmouth by pumping money in to bridge the gap. We need 3-4 players ASAP though, or he will miss out on the new TV deal, which would be a catastophe.

Alternative view is that Lerner had a brand new toy to play with. He played with it all the time, he even got a tattoo of it (here the metaphor falls apart a little). It was his favourite play thing, much more fun than his old toys that he used to play with. Then one day Randy became bored with his toy and he didn't want to play with his toy anymore. So he threw his toy down and  he left it with all his old toys.

Go get NRC back, we might have some bite then, a left back, another cb, a winger from somewhere and Carrol, otherwise we are doomed capn Lerner, doomed!!!

What would be the cost to us in relegation? If Randy spent half that figure to ensure we stay in the league we might be alright. Right now I can't see us staying up, bar hoping that there's 3 teams shitter than us.

Even the so called special one would struggle at the moment with the squad at Villa
He wants to be called "the only one" from now on.

Wasnt that Chesney Hawkes....even he might improve our midfield at this present time...a chip off the old block.

Yossi Benayon of chelsea is exactly the sort of player we could move for on loan as a bit of creativity

we do need some more players but they must be the right ones, the answer is not to go out and spend willy nilly we would just get ourselves back in the posision we are trying to get out of.

i hear people say we need some 'experience' weve already got experience in Dunne, Warnock and Hutton, but hey they arnt very good two of them were bad buys, lets not do it again. we just let a load of 'experience' out the door with the likes of Heskey, Beye etc, we dont want to get ourselves back in the same mither again

we also let that mega experienced Centre Half Collins go, did anyone see him yesterday ?
anyone want him back ?

the calls for NRC are jsut crackers, he's exactly the sort of player that was clogging up the wage bill no where near good enough, going to offer no improvement to the team or himself and yet the panickers are calling for him back again,

i remember when we were struggling near the bottom with Houllier,
there were many calls then to get rid and bring in Allardyce to 'save' us, what a load of bollox that was, and its the same with the calls for NRC, he is not the answer to any of the questions

if we are going to spend and i hope we do before next friday, i hope they are not knee jerk panic buys, like some of you guys want, we need a manager with a vision who doesnt get side tracked doesnt panic and builds the team and squad in a structured and patient way.

i guarantee the ones saying we need to spend big now or we are doomed, are exactly the same ones who have been telling us we are 'nailed on' for relegation the last two seasons,
but hey the last time i looked we are still in the premier, so you got it wrong two years on the trot, and we are in a better position now as we have a lot better manager who we must trust to get on with the job and build the team

his signings so far have been good, lets see if he can bring a couple more in the same, but the last thing we need is a few more NRC,Huttons, Beye, Heskey etc types, experienced at picking up a big fat weekly wage, but just draining the very soul out of the club

Sometimes you stay up because there are 3 teams that have less quality than you or because even if there aren't you have that fight and desire that keeps you up.

Unfortunately, I don't think either applies to this current Villa squad.

That is the more important point for me. The cost of being relegated is massive, the wage bill is a. now under control, and b. will shed another 3 massive earners next summer regardless in Warnock, Dunne and Petrov, so releasing 20-25 million to sign 4 players now would be a real must.

Annan is a good shout to play alongside KEA, energetic and a good player from what I have seen of him for Ghana, but that may mean nothing. Brahimi kid would give us options going forward at least. We have to get 2 options forward wise before next week or we are going to continually struggle to get near the goal of the opposition. NZogbia is slow and needs to be got shut off. Wonder if QPR fancy Ireland this week to top off their spending for decent money.
