reality check for everyone saying its too early to panic. It isn't. We are in a relegation dog fight a week into the new season. So much for the vibrancy etc promised when TSM got his cards

not quite that bad, we are short and the squads bloody awful but we are far from in a dog fight. come the end of the window i'll start to worry if wee are still this weak and i have already adjusted my expectations from top half finish to staying in the league. anything else is a bonus

Nobody is in a relegation dog fight after two games of the season, FFS.

"It's tight down there, just the THIRTY SIX games to put it right".

Today was awful, but for fuck's sake, "relegation dogfight"?

Well my worst fears look like they might materialise and I was only expecting around 15th in the League.  We really need 3 players that can join the first team but with six days and limited money I’m struggling to think who those players could be.

Lambert has a tough job on his hands and it’s important that the fans stay supportive and we must be patient.  The last thing we need is for a poisonous atmosphere to hang around the club.

Nigel Reo Coker and two others.

Yes, but it's one win in 18 games, and our squad is awful.  We're one of the favourites for relegation after two years of struggle, and appointing Paul Lambert was never going to be enough by itself.

Well when you think about the pre-match threads with the win, lose or draw options...I cant think of many games I'll be ticking the win box unless we make sign some much needed quality and experience this week. It may be too early in the season to be in a "relegation dogfight" but we will be occupying the relegation places for the best of the season if things dont change...and I'll go on record now as saying we wont get any points at Newcastle next week either.

None of that is untrue, and none of it changes the fact we're not in a relegation dogfight - because nobody is after two games of the season.

What bollocks.

I'm entirely aware of how piss poor we were today, how threadbare and weak the team is, and how many players we need to get in before next Friday.

I can understand, though, that there's no such thing as a relegation dogfight after two games of the season.

I agree. It's a bad start but no team has won or lost anything yet. If you want an example of how things can change the bridge jumpers should track how, ironically, Everton have started most campaigns in the past 5 years. I'm even sure that in one of those years they were stuck in the bottom three around November and still finished top 8. Nothing at all is decided yet.

Also Norwich had a shocking start to last season as well. Today was horrifying to watch, but we can't panic just yet.

Very true.  More accurate to say "we're shit and are in for a season of struggle" then.

Ok let's look at our form over the last 18 premier games? Ah relegation fodder with a chairman that's got his head up his arse. Lambert is a good manager, he will be a fukin genius sorting this shambles out.

Everton are a good team who have started slowly in the last few years, but always pull it together and finish strongly, due to their good squad of players and excellent manager.  We've had two seasons in a row where we've struggled to avoid relegation, and our squad is getting progressively weaker.  Using Everton as an example is just utterly desperate I'm afraid.  And wrong.

No it's not. If they are such a strong squad they wouldn't start like shit most seasons. They start slowly and then because they have a good manager they pull things together. You're acting like the season is over and yet it is only a few weeks ago where you were predicting we would finish 5th. We need to give this manager time to figure things out and get players in which is the priority now.
