Cuellar is not a "bog standard mid table player".

He's the definition of it.

Lovely bloke. Great with the fans. But he wasn't ever comfortable on the ball, he wasn't dominant in the air and you only have to look at the Norwich game last season to see that he struggled. The fact he only played half the time here with the Chuckle Brothers and Hutton getting in ahead says a thing or two.

Nah, I think I'd take Bent over Fletcher.

As would anyone with any sense.

So would I, unless you're insisting that we will only play one up front?Johnson or..... Hmmm we don't have any wingers. Bit of a tough decision there.

VDV would be a good signing for Fergie or Wenger, but the former has said they are done now.

In light of the Gardner injury, I would be sorely tempted to give NRC a 12 month contract. I know it is not like for like, but in the circumstances he could be very useful this season.

You have got to be joking. Lambert is trying to incorporate a passing game and NRC had possibly the worst midfield distibution in the premiership. I give him some credit for breaking up play and box to box running but passing was his downfall .......

If VDV came up for the right price , Fergie would still sign him .

Has Ince signed for anyone yet ?  he looks good

No, he's a bog-standard Scottish Premier League player.
If Cuellar's that then what is Dunne?

Better than the man he's kept out of the villa side for most  of the time he was at the club.

I would rather have Ince than AJ. He has great ball retention and has more pace. Along with he is younger and his wages would be manageable for Lerners wage structure .......

Seems to me one has to make a lot of assumptions based on not much hard evidence to think one knows what Randy's medium to long-term plans are. It's just a guessing game but I'm hanging my hopes on the fact that he's bothered to appoint an up-and-coming young manager who's stock is high and wouldn't risk his rep on the risk that he can perform miracles without adequate backing from the basket case club that some seem to think we are.

Fuck me that was a long sentence.

I also believe PL was told the situation and was happy to take the job and turn our club around. For PL to do this he must have trusted Randy to deliver and also have some idea on how serious his new boss will be.

OK...

After seeing the cries for Cuellar to start every game for the last 2 seasons I can't believe what is being said.

Cuellar was class at CB and we looked so much better (even when shit)... When he played in defence. He won everything in the air, didn't make costly errors and compared to Dunne and Collins he was infinitely better on the ball. Don't judge him when he was played out of position in positions he obviously didn't feel very comfortable playing in (even then he's been a better RB than Hutton's ever shown).
