Well the 2 hoped for marquee signings in fletcher and adam johnson have both signed for mon at sunderland - so we are left lacking in quality and in numbers , i feel we need at least 2 or more signings in the next week or we could be in a real struggle- i dread what will happen if bent were to get a bad injury.

Sorry to be so basic but are we actually pursuing any new signings or is that it?

My son's close friend is a staunch Norwich fan and he says Lambert likes to keep his powder dry for the January window.   If he is doing that he is playing a dangerous game.   The fans, the club and the team need us to start winning games soon, not next February.

Fletcher and Johnson are marquee signings? for Peterborough or Watford maybe.

They couldn't be any more MON type signings. British, not bad footballers, but overpriced. We could do with both of them!

Nah, I think I'd take Bent over Fletcher.

As would anyone with any sense.

well last week I thought we would finish higher than Slumberland , a week later and they will finish way above us come end of season.

We are getting weaker and weaker by each day .

We need to spend .

I'm expecting a financial meltdown at Sunderland shortly then.

A reported £29m transfer fee for both players. They're probably on about £80k a week and £60k a week respectively. Add in two fairly meh players in Cuellar and Saha on £30k a week and you're looking at around about £200k a week in wages added to what was already a costly squad.

I don't think there's any doubt that MON has pulled out his guarantee of a European place or cup win in order to finance these additions. When that doesn't happen you can see them being in exactly the same position we were a couple of years ago.

In terms of the additions. Saha and Cuellar are bog-standard mid-table players. Fletcher is a 7-12 goal a season striker and Johnson is completely hit and miss. For the money they're paying and the "quality" they're getting I would be extremely worried if I were a Sunderland fan.

There are a few clubs overspending and it could well come back to haunt them, the money being paid for average prem players is ridiculous and i hope Lamberts
looking abroad for cheaper, better. Read Peltys posts with interest, the biggest mistake Randy made at the start and continues to make is by not having anyone
on the board with football experience. When all on this site were calling for it to happen it went ignored which was disappointing because most on this site would
have more knowledge of football than any board member. Whether it was just stubbornesss i'm not sure, but appointing the right person could have avoided the
wages mess we got ourselves into.

Cuellar is not a "bog standard mid table player".

O'Neill is doing what O'Neill does, he is chucking somebody else's money about.   If the promises he is making to get this sort of backing do not come up to snuff he will mobilize his media arse lickers to say it is not his fault.

No, he's a bog-standard Scottish Premier League player.
