And how many other international players are available for £3m? Also, we cannot comment on whether Vlaar is a success yet especially since his predecessor won MOM in his first game away.

Lambert's tactic so far is to sell/ditch some of our most experienced players and replace them with unproven ones from lower leagues and abroad. May be a masterstroke but could also leave undergunned when the going gets tough. Be careful what you wish for especially when the players some of you call shit are actually good, solid PL players.

If you were at that game, it demonstrated perfectly why Vlaar is twice the player Collins is. IMO Vlaar was the best player on the pitch. Comfortable all game and bought the ball out from the back well. Collins spent 90 minutes punting it anywhere, he really is a terrible footballer.

If Dunne does go to Stoke I wonder would Ryan Shawcross be coming the other way. It's just a thought.

Doubt it very much.  PL would want a defender who is technically good on the ball.  Shawcross just seems like your bog standard old school english defender

Do clean sheets not matter anymore? Defenders are measured by their ability to defend and not by their footballing prowess.

Vlaar didnt put a foot wrong. We conceded a scrappy goal on Clark/Baker's side. A far better defender/footballer.

Well yeah, but for a start keeping the ball is probably the best defensive tactic, so it is important from that point of view. Also, everyone on the pitch needs to contribute however much to the attack, and I'd rather play the way we are working towards than the way Allardyce 'plays' every day of the week.

Of course they do. But the chances are improved if the ball does not come back into the goal area every five seconds.

Results matter and all this 'must play football at all costs' mentality is going to see you come unstuck. Let's just wait and see.

Again, the idea that the two are completely separate is totally incorrect.

If you think N'Zogbia is frustrating, be thankful he's not Royston Drenthe. For a player of his undoubted talent, there's got to be a big reason he's available on a free and has been all summer, and the attitude is it.

I'm convinced they are one and the same player. If N'Zogbia could be bothered he'd be every bit as good as Drenthe playing in wing back position. Attitude and spirit, as Lambert keeps going on about is 90% of what a player needs to be successful.
