I assume he's still injured. He was a big part of their team last year but you have to wonder whether Rodwell is his long-term replacement. He's too old, too slow and on too much money anyway.

De Jong is on his way out.............

As weird as it sounds, we genuinely need a nut case who enjoys hurting people. Not sure we could afford his wages though.

its football mate, not cage fighting

Doesn't hurt to have a hard man... unless you're on the other team.

Spurs have taken us for a ride every time we've dealt with them in recent years.

Kyle Walker was the perfect deal for both clubs. We needed a right-back, they had one spare.

I agree but the Hutton deal was not so perfect.

Alan Hutton. Living proof that lightning doesn't strike twice.

Spurs have accepted a bid of £9m from QPR for Dawson.  How does Levy do it?

I'd love to know exactly how much Jenas cost in all.

So spurs sign a player that cost £25m for a paltry fee of £5m and the club they sign him off still pay a good chunk of his wages. A road we could go down I recon.

Apparently Huddlestone is available on loan...we could do with a player like him in our midfield alongside KEA.

God how fucking depressing. Why can't we buy some decent players rather than bring other teams players up to scratch. I appreciate Sunderland haven't signed any of the players they've been linked with today but surely the fact that the press perceive so many teams to be a level higher than us must have some bearing on whats going on? Things looked quite promising when Lambert took over but after the honeymoon period I've seen nothing that convinces me that all we're here for is to make up the numbers and survive. That's the limit of our ambition, I hope I'm completely wrong.

He understands the football business, and in particular the transfer market.

whatever it was it was a complete waste,
although i do believe if a loan player is injured whilst on your watch then its your responsibility to ahere to the deal.

you wouldnt lend a lawnmower of your neigbour, smash it into a tree, then say sorry you can have it back now its up to you to put it right

Heard that Liverpool have still not coughed up all the transfer fee for Downing. Might be some leverage there.

You’d also hope that the players are insured to cover such events so the damage might not be too great.

You can't insure players against non-career ending injuries.

Good fact.  I was talking about insurance covering their wages rather than paying out their value.  Is it not possible to insure against that, in a way a builder might insure against injury.
