Nope, they had a very good season together. It's certainly one where you can see the option Lambert would want available.

Jones and bent looked good together- jones lost his way at stoke but at the right price could be a decent signing- if lambert can get the best out of him we could have a very potent strikeforce- interesting.

Jones was already there when they signed Bent. The one full season they played together Bent got 24 and Jones 9 in the league.

I mentioned elsewhere on these pages that when asked who was his favorite partner D.Bent has always stated Kenwyne Jones - his most prolific time scoring was when big ken was his partner

I would be more than happy to bring him in as he could be the perfect foil for Darren

I'm not sure about Jones. Yes, there is the argument that he and Bent had a good understanding but I think we can do better. I still hope we go for Carroll. He gives you everything Jones does but is far more prolific.

Failing that, there must be some goalscoring powerful strikers abroad. Or perhaps try and get Lukaku.

Still, we can try and get Lichaj to throw the ball 50 yards onto Jones's head a la dirty Stoke.
They could even sell special Lichaj ball towels in the club shop.

If Jones came he'd be an option not a definite starter. Carroll would expect to be a definite starter (which he wouldn't merit). With Jones, we could be more tactically flexible than if we constantly felt the need to shoehorn two forwards into a system which, ultimately, might not suit the team.

I agree carroll would be a good option, but from noises coming from his camp i really would be surprised if carroll would come to villa , jones could be the perfect foil for bent, if both stay fit then i think goals would flow .

Interesting about Jones. Another 27 year old so certainly still a good age with something to offer. He plays for Stoke so you might think Hutton would be part of the package. Hutton plus 2 or 2.5m would be a solid deal really. And yes, he played well with Bent is aggressive and good in the air. Someone Bent knows well and will give Lambert the target man so to speak that he likes having available. There could be something in this, and at that price well worth looking at. On the surface much better value than either Fletcher or Carroll.

Not sure on Jones at all, on his day he can look brilliant but always strikes me as being a bit too laid back and a player who doesn't make the most of his obvious physical attributes.

Jones reminds me of Carew, on his day he can be unplayable and highly dangerous, other times hardly worth playing.
If the rumour is true it could be a good signing
