I really can't see us getting Citeh players like Milner, Dzeko or Johnson, even on loan. The fee will be huge and so would the wages. Perhaps Citeh would subsidise loan wages, but I bet there'd be a better side with more willingness to pay wages than us for any of those players.

I've never seen Joe Bennett play, but we do need a left back (though I think Warnock isn't quite as bad as some suggest, he's definitely an accident waiting to happen)

According to the Mail Holman wants to play behind Bent

So Holman will be the  "in the hole man"

I like Holman. I think he seems very much to be in the Kuyt mould. Not spectacular, but adapatable, hard working and will run all night long. Will chip in with a good share of goals and assists too.

I agree. I said somewhere else that Holman gets himself into a lot of good positions and if he's playing off Bent's shoulder then he'll certainly be involved. The Kuyt comparison might be a good one.

I'd be very happy with Holman as the 'second-striker' playing ahead of a midfield diamond, maybe with Ireland at the point of it. That would have a lot of players capable of keeping the ball, using it creatively and making good runs forward - goals from midfield have been a problem for us at times.

I'd be very surprised if Holman is in Lambert's first starting eleven. Seen a couple of friendly games, including Forest on Saturday when he was utterly anonymous. Might have a role as an advanced central midfielder but certainly doesn't look like a winger.

Having seen our friendlies so far i would be very surprised if holman is not in the starting line up- in fact holman, el ahmedi and lowton have all looked worthy of a starting place , as im sure vlaar also will do.

He'd be a good signing for £5-6mil.

I wouldn't pay more than £4m because of his age, and I think that's stretching it with his abilities anyway.

Impressed with El Ahmadi, he'll be an important player for us. We'll have to wait and see in regards to Holman but I certainly don't think he'll be as influential as some people seem to think he'll be, looks very average to me.

I know this doesn't mean a fat deal but there's a lot of Jones to Villa talk on the Twit.

Straight swap or Hutton and I'd be happy!
