I really think Bent and Sturridge together would be a real threat. They could pull defences all over the place plus Gabby and N zogbia on the wings. Ireland to produce the inspiration or better still Berbatov.

Assuming that KEA is your 4th midfielder in a 4-4-2, you'd have Gabby and N'Zogbia ahead of Holman and Bannan?

The Villa teamtalk page on teletext says that we are making an audacious move to bring Christian Vieri to Villa Park.
New Manager John Gregory is thought to want to create a dream team strike partnership of Vieri and Ariel Ortega.
But where will les Ferdinand play?

Chatter still ongoing in some of the papers about us trying to get Danny Rose in on a season long loan. If it happens it will all well and good. But it's a very empty feeling if he does well and we have to hand him back after blooding him in and we are back to square one a la Kyle Walker.
On another topic, are we still interested in Aaron Cresswell, it seems to have gone mighty quiet on that front.

Is Juninho still locked in Herbert's office?

So according to Goal.com. Manchester City are ready to sell Adam Johnson after agreeing terms with Swansea winger Scott Sinclair... So thats why Sinclair was non existent for Team GB v Skorea other day... ??
Also hearing  that Moses to Chelsea could see Sturidge leave??
I think both Sturridge and Johnson would work well under old skool British managers. These are typical english players who have a bit of skills but severely lack tactical awareness, positional discipline and general team play.

I think Rose is a good attacking player his defensive qualities are average at best. Lambo may look to deploy him as some left back bombing forward - Rose natural place is on the wing. Interesting....

The one time I've seen Danny Rose play in the flesh, he came on like an uber-reckless Alan Hutton.

Strong words indeed.  Wouldn't an uber-reckless Alan Hutton be the love child of Alien and Predator?

The only redeeming factor was the uber-recklessness was aimed at Hutton himself.

So maybe there's a Terminater in his bloodline somewhere.

There's a few fans on Spurs forums that say Rose is shit. I always thoguht he was a winger? but Redknapp played him at left back to cover Assou-Ekotto?

I thought he was CM when he first broke in. That said, from what I saw in the GB team he looked like a right footer playing left wing. I dunno if it's the case, or whether he just kept running down blind alleys but he looked like a poor mans SWP to me. He's quite fast but not as quick as SWP.
I don't see the point really. We've got plenty of youngsters as good, if not better. If Rose was coming in as a wide player, I'd rather try Delph out. He's quick and quite good on the ball. I think if anything it'd take the pressure off him that he had in CM. And if we want an attacking left back who's going to be suspect defensively but good going forward then again, Delph or N'Zogbia.

N'Zogbia left back? I dread to think.

Fabio Ferraresi could always fill in the midfield gaps during the African Nations.

So do I. But he'd probably be as effective as Rose IMO. For someone who plays wide he just seemed very uncomfortable playing there. I've only really seen him a couple of times for Spurs and GB. Might have been a bad game but he seemed like he was stuck out of position and didn't know where to go. Ended up doing a lot of aimless running down the left flank.

Personally I'd rather we get someone who's defensively sound and can get forward effectively too.

Berbatov wouldn't work hard enough to be a member of a 4-man midfield IMO. I don't think we can afford any passengers off the ball at the mo, but Ireland or Holman in that role would do well I'm sure.
From what I saw last season 'passenger off the ball' applies perfectly well to Ireland and passenger on the ball to N'Zogbia. Had hoped they might both be moving to the exit along with the more usual scapegoats.
