That's good news let's just hope somebody buys Hutton soon.

Not really as the article only confirms he can go and quotes lambert as saying no enquiries at all about him- the headline is a unfortunately a bit misleading.y

Links in the press to anthony annan are promising though- at a reported £2.5m that would be a decent deal .

It's a new article, but I think it's pretty much old news to a lot of people.

Sounds to me like a Makoun replacement.

Jeez, he's on a 4 year contract.
Doubt we'll be getting much for him; we'll have to give him away in order for another club to want to pay his wages. Either that or accept some %age of his wages will continue to be paid by us.

We should sign him just so our midfield could be Annan and Bannan.

No enquiries for Alan Hutton at Aston Villa

Paul Lambert today confirmed Aston Villa have not had enquiries for Alan Hutton, although he hinted the defender may be sold before the transfer window closes.

Hutton was left out of Villa’s pre-season tour to the US and did not feature in either of the warm-up matches against Peterborough or Nottingham Forest.

The 27-year-old Scotland international was signed for around £4m from Tottenham by former manager Alex McLeish, but struggled to win over fans during a difficult first season with the claret and blues.

The right-back was strongly linked with a £2m move to Stoke City but Lambert said Villa had not been contacted.

“Will he be a Villa player before the transfer window closes? I don’t know, I’m not so sure. He’s shown a good attitude in training so there are no qualms on that front. There have not been any enquiries for him at the minute, no,” said the Villa boss.

Villa are prepared to listen to offers for Hutton, who signed a four-year contract reputed to be worth £30,000 a week.

Lambert hinted that his summer spending is not complete and he will meet with owner Randy Lerner and chief executive Paul Faulkner to thrash out the next phase of his overhaul of the squad.

He added: “As manager you always want to bring in one or two more players.”

I can see us loaning Hutton out for the season, and contributing to his wages. At least he won't be playing, I suppose. By the sound of it, there's no chance PL will name him in his 25 so he's kicked his last ball for us.

I was going to post the other day while watching the Mexico v Senegal game that the Senegalese leftback (or midfield) Pape Souare looked very impressive.  Great left foot and set up a couple of goals.  Unfortunately he then went and tried to decapitate one of the Mexicans with a kung fu kick that Chuck Norris would have been proud of.  He plays for Lille apparently but apart from that I know nothing about him.

Oh, and he had great hair too.  A bit Tony Daley-ish...

Corrected.

Yeh I'd be happy to see him go on loan if we can't find a buyer.  Better than allowing him anywhere near the first team squad.

Lerner must tear his hair out after just about getting rid of MON's deadbeats he realises McLeish bought another one on a long-term contract. There's always a risk a player won't work out and I don't know how we compare to other clubs but we seem a bit naive with over-paying on transfer fees/wages for British-based players. What would we get for N'Zogbia now? And I still can't believe we gave Given a five-year deal.
