Phew !!

He thinks he's a 'much better player' now? I think he's a shadow of the player we signed in 2009.

I seem to remember that when Collins arrived, the idea was that he'd be the reserve Centre Half rather than the regular starter than he became.

Am I correct ?

I don't remember that in his case, but I do remember how under MON how almost every time we'd sign a proven shit player, the "he's come in to be our second choice *insert position here*" reasoning used to get wheeled out.

We did have about 8 central defenders on the books when signed though.

But he was much better for us in 2009/10 than he has been since? He was solid as a rock that year, both strong in the tackle and good in the air. He has been poor since.

At the time  we signed him it did seem like a luxury signing. We already had Cueller and it seemed like Dunne would partner him in central defence.

Expect him to turn up in the Queen Vic the night before a game... get hammered and have a bit of aggro with a Hammers Legend... Bye bye.

rightfully he should be another father to one of Biancas kids :D

Not sure but there's no getting away rom the fact that during MON's final season the back 4 of him, Dunne, Warnock and Cuellar was the strongest we've had in years. It might not have been very pretty but it was effective.

Yes Chris, whereas they have been a disaster the past two seasons. Hence my surprise that Collins thinks he is an improved player.

I think we assumed Collins would be a reserve as he effectively replaced Zat Knight, with Dunne seen more as the Laursen replacement.  We also signed Luke Young, so the defense most were expecting was him at RB, Warnock LB and a rotation of Davies and Cuellar alongside Dunne, with Collins as 4th choice CB.  What happened was Davies sent to shit, we played Carlos at RB and, in his defence, Collins did very well alongside Dunne.

There's so much good news on this page, it's difficult to pick my favourite part.

I'm guessing Alan Hutton went on one of those online dating websites that guarentee to find your perfect match - one result with 100% compatibilty - Stoke City! Cheerio Al.....

Goodbye Collins. I'm not sure why but I think I may dislike him more than I've disliked any Villa player since Alpay.

The best bit of it, for me, is rthe fact that we're only laying out 700k on vlaar, and with him probably on lower wages we'll break even before the end of the season.

Dopey looking oafish right back seeks scumbag football team for good times, ball wiping, timewasting and a shared interest in raping the beautiful game. GSOH essential (good sense of hoofing) as is being able to match me pint for pint without taking away my car keys.

I'd take Downing back. Ok, he's a prick. But, he's better than N'Zogbia.

Last season's stats (and we like our stats on here) would suggest differently.

It says a lot about TSM that we had a player on our books who fits Stoke's requirements so perfectly.
