The 'V' in Dutch is pronounced as an 'F' isn't it? So it's Ron Flaar I believe!

Ron Atkinson was the last Ron wasn't he? Or was it that Norwegian centre half, Johnsen was it? Was he a Ron?

Going back to Collins and Dunne, I do think one should stay.

If we want Clark to start at CB, then signing two would mean that wouldn't happen, unless one of those we signed was seen as a reserve CB.  If we get an 'up and coming' player for that then fair enough, but then that would leave us with 3 young CBs on top of (probably/hopefully) Ron Vlaar.  So presuming we want an experienced player in reserve along with Baker, would we get one better than Dunne/Collins?

In my opinion we wouldn't, so it makes more sense to keep one as experienced cover.

Out of the two, Dunne should be the one to stay. No doubt in my mind that he's the far superior player, and I don't see how scandal-a-season Collins has a future at VP. Might be harsh, but I just don't see it.

His name is pronounced like the Flemish word for 'custard'.

I think that's the most important thing about all this.

I'd pick Collins of the two, but no overly fussed either way as the other will be gone in 12-months anyway.  That having been said, another argument for Dunne staying is that Collins is younger, so would probably fetch a larger transfer fee, despite only having that year left.

I think he might be a Led Zep fan.

Regarding Caroll, I saw that Newcastle have had a loan bid rejected so It would appear that any deal must involve money

I think with Newcastle in particular, it would stick in Liverpool's craw if they send him back there on the cheap after giving them so much money for him.
Maybe they still owe Newcastle a wedge and will write it off or, on our behalf, maybe they still owe us some of the Downing money we could write off?

There's no doubt in my mind Liverpool would rather sell and give Rodgers the cash to spend but getting an acceptable offer vice what they paid will be very difficult. They'd have to choke on at least more than half what they paid.

Got to laugh , Carroll and Downing for £55 million . ha ha ha

Don't forget the money they splashed out for Henderson as well.

Add Suarez, Adam and Enrique and you have £115m of spending under KKK and the only one they could even consider getting a profit on is Enrique (Suarez has played ok but he's clearly damaged goods, I can't see anyone taking him on for the 22m-ish they paid).  If they sold the lot they'd be lucky to get half of that back.

The 27-year-old has met with Villa and favours a move to the Premier League after turning down the chance to extend his contract with the Eredivisie side.

Van Geel also stated that the centre-back has a buy-out clause in his contract, but refused to reveal the price - though he did state that it would not be a cheap option for Paul Lambert's men.

"Ron visited Birmingham yesterday and wants to continue his career at Aston Villa," Van Geel stated to RTV Rijnmond.

"We met with him last week to discuss a contract extension, but that was not an option. It's true that he has a buy-out clause. I won't reveal how much exactly we're talking about, but we're obviously talking about millions here."

If Villa do secure the services of Vlaar, it will be new manager Paul Lambert's third summer signing, after capturing ex-Sheffield United defender Matthew Lowton and Vlaar's former team-mate Karim El Ahmadi - though there has been another arrival with former boss Alex McLeish's signing of Australian midfielder Brett Holman.

Rumours on Twitter the get out clause is around 3 million

Maybe the best way for Liverpool to recoup their money is to go on pre season tour, leave them players at home and hope they get nicked!

Can't see many other deals apart from Vlaar happening now we're leaving for the US.

It's not unheard of for managers to fly back from pre-season tours specially to tie up transfer deals.

With Vlaar it sounds a bit like it was for the deal for KEA with player, club, media saying he wants to join us and just a matter sorting out the details.

Their fans, like with KEA leaving, even though they would of liked to keep them, they seem to be wishing them well and saying they deserve/earned a move to the EPL and they welcome the money to do some rebuilding of their own team.

2 Dutch players and a player who has played most his career in Holland, should be some great link up play with KEA and Vlaar already team mates and friends and Holman playing against them they will all know each other so should all settle well in the team.

Maybe we should consider getting a French player or former team mate of N'zog, might cheer him up a bit and help get him playing better if he's got a buddy too.
