Carroll is not a donkey. When in form (and yes, thats the key) he is actually quite useful on the deck. He's not just about an aerial threat.
Dont get me wrong, I'd sooner have a striker who can create things and is exciting. A number 10 if you will and if he also had some sort of physical presence that would be great. But Carroll offers something else we dont have and I doubt many would complain too often if we scored some goals from crosses or by bullying defenders.

There's nothing wrong with having a pony tail either.  >:(
Giving the Mrs a pair of Irish sunglasses is a no no though. Down with that sort of thing.

If we had him, then the option to lump it to big man up front would be there and end up doing it as an easy option fopr someone like Collins who thinks he's Hoddle when it comes to passing. No, I'd rather have ball played on the floor and a players who can do that. I'm saying Carroll can't, it would be too tempting to play the long ball.

Steven Seagal had a pony-tail, didn't give Kelly Le-Brock a few slaps in his time... ?

Maz is right. there is nothing wrong with a pony tail. In the 17th century. or if you're a girl etc etc etc

You've made a powerful enemy, sir. I demand satisfaction.
My man will instruct you where and when to present your lowly person on the morrow. I choose pistols.

Shooting it off wouldn't be the best way to go.  Perhaps a nice pair of garden shears?

Don't you hate it when a whole week goes by without another a new signing?

It hasn't, yet.

Andy Carroll is an over-priced, lumbering oaf playing for Liverpool.

If a certain Sunderland manager hasn't made an enquiry, I'd be amazed.

Carroll's a much better player than people give him credit for, but I'm not convinced he'd be right for us.

i suspect its academic as we can't afford to devote such a high proportion of our salary budget to one player who isn't critical to our stabalisation. We have more urgent priorites, not least trying to off load some of the existing wage hogs.

If it's a case of getting good balls in the box and getting headers in, then I'm quite happy with Gabby and Bent. Both are decent in the air given the right delivery. Gabby's actually scored some pretty decent headers in his time. It's all about the delivery.
If we really do need a big man option up front to give us a different approach (or the long ball option) then I'd rather buy cheaper from abroad. Carroll wouldn't come here to be 2nd or 3rd choice. If we have a big man, I'd want him as an option from the bench, or certain games, rather than regular starter.

Just taking a look at the BBC's Sportsday live text, where they've asked the populous to comment on 'shrewd' signings that have happened this summer. Most of them seem to be Man Yoo fans banging on about Kagawa being the find of the millennium. Some are having the cheek to suggest Reading and Blues are making the kind of under the radar signings that will bring them huge success.

The only thing I can deduce from this, is that you actually have a pony tail yourself.

You big Jessie.

Wish I could grow a pony tail but as it is all I can grow is a few grey hairs as a border round my bald patch.

Hutton to Stoke would be great

My misses drives back n forth from Brum to Stoke a few times a day with work so if he needs a lift...

Doubt it as he has a brand new top of the Range Bentely continental - which always winds me up that someone with such poor ability gets so well paid

On the subject of players with limited or no ability getting very well paid

Has any mugs taken on the Tumbling bear as yet?
