Here's the article

http://www.birminghammail.net/birmingham-sport/aston-villa-fc/aston-villa-news/2012/07/10/aston-villa-expect-more-signings-paul-lambert-97319-31359677/

Has there been anything this man has said so far that hasn't made sense? And he isn't just saying for effect. He actually means it. What a bleeding difference one year can be.

Again, I like what he has to say, especially about wanting players who want to play for us and aren't just after the money.  But this bit also struck me:-

“The group certainly needs a hand to enhance it, that’s for sure."

To me, that strongly suggests he's not been too impressed with what he's seen in training so far!

All I know is, the more I hear from him and the more I read, the more I am looking forward to next season.
We might not win anything, we might not set the league on fire, but it sure as shit won't be as awful as last year !!

Bring it on !!!!!!!!!!!

Can we swap James Collins for Scott Dann? Please?.... :)

Ok, Dann didn't have a good season last time out, but not many did at Blackburn. He's a good defender.

That the same Scott Dann that has 2 relegations in 2 years with different clubs to his name - an even worse record  than TSM

No chance - he is worse than what we have already

He is half the man he used to be though

To be fair,Dann was injured for most of the season Blues were relegated.Their defence fell apart without him

Well, with the noises of more additions, I wonder who is marked out for the exit door? With these additional MF players being rumoured, I wonder whether Lambo feels Ireland is too much of a loose cannon.
I'd like to see some further defender-acquisitions as a priority.

Has Collins dropped a bollock?

Our midfield roster is overstacked at the moment alright

Nzogbia, Albrighton, Ireland, Holman, El Ahmadi, Delph, Clark, Herd, Bannan, Gardner, Makoun

some pretty similar players in that mix. The likes of Albrighton, Bannan, Delph surely have only until Jan to impress. While the trio of big earners Ireland, Nzogbia and Makoun may be used for trades potentially.

He drops a bollock quite regular on the pitch.

from that list Nzogbia, Albrighton, Ireland, Holman, El Ahmadi, Delph, Clark, Herd, Bannan, Gardner, Makoun

I wouldn't like to class, Delph, Clark, Herd as Clark & Herd are defenders and I don't want defenders in midfield, Also Delph isn't good enough

On the squad list Holman is listed as a forward not a midfielder so maybe he's going to be used more as a second striker than a midfielder.

I think they like to pigeon hole players for things like the squad list, but not every player falls neatly into 'defender, midfielder or striker'.  For instance, Gabby probably played as many games wide as N'Zogbia last season, yet one will be listed as a striker and the other as a midfielder.  We'll find out what sort of player we have in Holman and where Bertie intends to play him once the season starts.
