This talk of £5m for Gabby is pathetic especially when you compare what other clubs are asking for their English players let alone a young Premier League forward with years of experience. He may not be the most intelligent of players but Gabby is worth at least £10m in the current transfer market and valuation of players, and closer to £15m when on form...in fact its not worth selling when he is on form unless it is an offer you cant refuse.

I still believe he's a good player, he just needs to find that form. He has enough credit in the bank to deserve it too from us all.
I hope the rumours are bollocks and I really hope PL can spark him up again.
Totally agree with that statement.

I think selling Gabby for £5m at this time would be a bit of bad business. The club have invested a lot of money, time and facilities in developing him over the years and now he is heading into his peak years at the age of 25 and people are talking about letting him go.

Admittedly he has had 2 bad seasons but prior to them he was an improving player.

11/12 P36 G6 A5 AML
10/11 P31 G4 A1 GH
09/10 P49 G16 A7 MON
08/09 P47 G12 A6 MON
07/08 P38 G11 A8 MON
06/07 P42 G10 A7 MON
05/06 P09 G01 A1 DOL

Is it coincidence that a player who's goal per season was increasing year on year, who had played in Europe for his club, had played for England suddenly stopped improving when the manager who had managed him through most of his first team football left and then 2 new managers managed him over 2 consecutive seasons that he played poorly and his goal scoring decreased dramatically.

If MON hadn't left and was still with us we may of seen Gabby's goal tallies increase further from 10, 11, 12, 16 and could possibly have a 18/20 goal player getting ready to start a new season and setting himself a target to improve again. Would people even consider selling him for £5m if that was the case?

Lambert isn't MON but his arrival has brought a similar energy to when MON arrived and he is the type of manager that will take Gabby and play him to his strengths, as MON did, to get the best out of him and hitting double figure goal tallies again.

Selling Gabby now isn't the right time and £5m isn't the right price. We need to hold on to him and see if Lambert can get him back on track and hitting the net again, even if he can't get him up to a 18/20 goal tally he must be able to get him scoring more than the 6 & 4 he got the last couple of seasons, which will increase his sale ability - if Lambert decides he can't get him back on track - and not just sell him to MON now for £5m and let him pick up where he left off and get him knocking in goals again, some of which could be against us.

..and if Gabby had been our penalty taker in the 09/10 season there's a good chance he would have been on 20-22 goals for that season...it's one of the reasons bent's a 20+ a season striker.

We all moan when players show no loyalty and move on, yet we're quick to write off a loyal player when they have a dip in form...

Obviously the Gabby to Swans rumor is a complete load of bull. The fee is too low and he would not fit their system in the least. Granted Rodgers is gone now but Gabby can't hold up the ball and possess, he can't pass and he struggles to finish. I don't think he'd be a very good fit at Swansea. I'd like to see him stay, until next January at least..

"______ can't hold up the ball and possess, he can't pass and he struggles to finish"

You'd want a player like this to stay?

I'd hope that if we sold him then we'd get a bit more for him than that, though if it was closer to 8 I wouldn't be massively disappointed.

Gabby was great last season until November but post xmas he was woeful. His comments around March time about how he couldn't wait for the season to end , whilst in the thick of a relegation battle, was poor considering he was then captain. His performance at Old Trafford, when he blatently didn't give a fuck was the final straw for me. He gave us some great memories, but  I wouldn't miss him
Now.

It will be interesting to see the sort of player Gabby could be with Lambert/Culverhouse in charge.

Gabby has got 11 goals in his last 67 appearances for the Villa.

That is simply terrible. He had a great spell at the start of last season with assists and goals. Remember him destroying Kyle Naughton in particular at Villa Park. But he was woeful after Xmas and spent a lot of that time playing in his favourite position as Bent was injured.

If we got a good offer Id be tempted to get rid. Just cant see him working well with Bent. Bent needs a different type of forward player supporting him so maybe now is the right time to start looking at different options.
