We'd get more than £5m surely?
The alternative way of looking at it is who would be interested in buying him and how much they could afford. Therein lies your answer...

Gabby is the only member of our current squad that would me make me very said if he left. I really hope those rumours aren't true.

I don't care if he's not a great player, there comes a point where you need someone in the team who loves wearing the Claret and Blue, and would run through a brick wall for the club. And that's a lot more than I can say for a lot of our players.

No I don't think so, I think you put a valuation on a player if its not matched you don't sell simple, ive never known a club drop the price unless your desperate to sell

Mathew Lowton, apparently. Never heard of him.
Not very exciting these signings. We seem to be doing things on the cheap these days.
Yes, I too yearn for a return to the days when we spent stupid amounts of money on exceptionally average footballers.

Yeah, so no more Young, Milner or Darren Bent then.
Don't get me wrong, he may turn out to be a good player but it's still a bit of an underwhelming signing. We need a couple of established players in to get the fans excited.

so what if he signed a big name player first and then these types of player afterwards? Would it make a difference? How about giving the bloke a chance to build the squad first and be happy that on July 6th, less than a week after the window has officially opened we have 3 new faces. We'll have 4 once Guzan returns and I'd bet on at least one more before the US trip. If at the end of August we've only signed this lot, and no other player we might grumble a bit. Quite frankly, I really didn't think anyone could see the negative in anything that Lambert or indeed the club has done so far. I was wrong on that one.

Of course I'm giving him a chance. This is only a messageboard, it's not the Villa board room. I've just commented that the signings so far are a tad underwhelming and I stand by it. Plenty of time left for transfers of course, but we seem to say this sort of thing most pre seasons but we seem to finish up feeling as underwhelmed at the end as we did at the start.

The guy who has come from Holland seems to have a good pedigree, in their team of the season form what I read and the Aussie player is their nation player of the year. The young right back is a signing I am pleased to see, nice to see a young English lad given a chance. Shame we couldnt have got Danni Alves, Iniesta and Xavi, but who knows before the end of the transfer windown

I slightly disagree. We have a transfer budget and Lambert is getting in players that he can work with and mold into a good team within the squad. So far i think he is being very sensible. Maybe a surprise signing is on the horizon for a bigger fee but lets not knock him when he has a very tight budget. Time will tell and a few coming to us on a free would be good buisness.

He gives absolutely everything he has when he plays. 110%.

It's just a shame that's often not good enough.

I think people don't rate Gabby because he's black.

Anyway, I'd like us to sign Emma B and Mrs Doyle to be our new central defence. They are Villa fans after all.

Apologies for my suggestions being as fucking moronic as the one that I rate players based on who they support.
