I think it depends on position. I would sooner take a chance on a few young experienced players from the lower leagues and abroad than spunk silly cash on a marque signing that is over priced. If decent value and a name great.

I want to see some defenders signed up pretty quickly. With the right defence and a decent manager, we will have a very effective squad that mixes hard-working ball-winners and some talent.

If a flair player comes in as well - to complement the flair of Ireland, N'Zog, Bannan, Carruthers and Gardner  -  so much the better.

i suppose a proper marquee payer for Villa would be someone in the Bent bracket of 15-25 mill, then its not just picking someone who would cost that sort of money its also finding someone who would come,

we are short on options, but if PL did bring in a high profile player who instantly put a few more on the crowd and got people excited about watching him play it would be great, but i cant of the top of my head think of anyone to fit that bill
