The reason the press are linking MON with every player we're even remotely likely to let go is because they, too, have seen his previous track record of being bone fucking idle when it comes to scouting players, and opting for what he knows

So,why did they link us with everyone? only for us to get the same old shite at the end of the transfer market?

He'd been out of the English game for a long while when he came here, maybe that was a factor.

When I think back to transfer windows under MON, when we had a few quid to spend, we'd get linked with plenty of foreign based players, many of whom we'd never heard of, but as you hinted, ultimately it'd be relatively predictable signings we ended up with.

Wasn't it just Carew and Guzan he signed who'd never played for him before, and never played in the UK? Oh, and Salifou, how could anyone forget him.

The only problem with MON buying our crap off us is that we would have to wait for August 31st.

Can definitely seeing MON being interested in Collins or Dunne.  CB is position Sunderland haven't got too many options in and both Collins and Dunne did well for him when he was here.

O'shea, Brown, Turner, Cùellar, Kilgallon, thats off the top of my head.

It was wishful thinking more than anything!!  O'Shea's predominantly a full-back, Brown's injured a lot, and Turner and Kilgallon are not anything too special.  I can see Cuellar playing RB for them next season, O'Shea LB, and MON bringing in another CB.

Of the lot I'd rate Turner the most.  O'Shea's not horrible, but very beatable.  Brown isn't much except in the air, and like you said always hurt.  Cuellar may actually have a chance there.

Talk shite stated today that along with a list of foreign players Clyne was on his way to Wet Spam - they said in the week that Holt was also signing for them so treat their comment with the contempt it deserves i suspect

Don't Talkshite just report what's in the papers, as in they don't claim any sources/exclusives themselves?

I think Bertie wants Naughton and Clyne is his back-up option if Spurs hold on for a silly valuation!

Edit: and in response to Maz's post above, I'd be delighted if we re-signed Guzan.
