Blues can't buy anyone can they?  Don't they have a transfer embargo?

Are they not allowed to sign free agents either? Not sure whether the embargo would cover that or not.

I'd have thought it blocked all signings as its still an outlay on wages.

I'm fairly certain they aren't allowed to register any new players, that includes free transfers and loan signings. They're allowed to sell though.

That's what I think, it's a transfer embargo, not a buying embargo.

One off the list. Guthrie ( Newcastle ) gone to reading. On Makoun. I think with a full pre season he will play a big part in the team the way PL wants to play.  He might be best behind Bent feeding the wings and counter attacks. He may well also inspire Nzogbia (French etc) ........

I have seen it on another site but could not provide a source. He is still under contract with Villa. Olympiakos  wanted to keep him but were waiting to see what price Villa wanted ......

Warnock to move further south, to Waste Ham?  Can't see it myself but, great if it's true.

I recall seeing him have a long chat with Owen Coyle after the Bolton game towards the end of last season.  I wondered then if it was just a case of them being friends or if a possible move could be on the cards.

I'm not an expert on Warnocks personal circumstances but I thought that one of the reasons he was left out by Houllier was because he didn't want to move south to the area?  I take it Warnock actually knows where Waste Spam play? I would be happy to see him leave as I think we can do far better than him, the Swansea lad for starters.

I thought Makoun returned months ago as he was ruled out with injury for the rest of the season. I thought that technically he returned to Villa around the same time Jenas returned to Spurs. Talk of Man City letting Kolo Toure go on the cheap as he has only got a year left. It seems a Turkish club is interested but not one of the biggest ones. Is it worth seeing if he would rather come here?

He would be a slight improvement on Collins and Dunne, but for his age and wage demands I would rather we invest in someone younger, less prone to mistakes and not going to miss part of the season due to African Cup. Unless he was available on a free then it would be a big "NO" from me.

Story confirmed here

Paul LambertJean Makoun will be given a fresh opportunity to kick-start his Aston Villa career when the unsettled midfielder returns from his year-long sabbatical next month.

Get Your FREE Equifax Credit Report Makoun will return from his 12-month loan spell at Olympiakos with a Greek championship winners medal when he reports back to training at Bodymoor Heath on July 5.

Paul Lambert is prepared to offer a new start the Cameroon international who was passed over by Alex McLeish last summer in favour of ill-fated loanee Jermaine Jenas.

Makoun gave glimpses of his ability after Gerard Houllier signed him from Lyon in January 2011, but he cut an isolated figure following the French manager’s departure.

Ahmadi and Makoun could be the centre of our midfield then but we would lose both of them in January to the African Nations Cup.  Is that every year?

He could give Albrighton a kick up the arse. He's a cracking player who has lost his way a bit. I'd hate to give up on him and someone like PW could help him along.

Yeah, I was a winger as a kid so I'd have a crack at it. Cheers.
