Maybe Naughton should hand in a transfer request or go on strike or something :)

Either way £6m is a piss take

Levy is a good businessman, but he is not exactly in an impregnable bargaining position. He's not in the Champions' League, and he has a squad full of players who think they *should* be.

And he still hasn't appointed a manager.

Spurs are well known for managing to sell players at inflated prices, so it's not particularly surprising that they're looking for 6m for Naughton.

I dont think £6m is outlandish but it is too much considering he has one year left and has not broken through into the first team at Total Hypespurt. I rate Naughton but there is probably better value elsewhere for that kind of money. Especially abroad.

It looks like Vertonghen's move to Spurs could be in trouble. If we have some cash to spend we should jump in, if only to piss Spurs off.

The Mirror are saying that Spurs are asking too much for Kyle Naughton...

http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/aston-villa-cant-afford-spurs-941343

What a lovely spin. We can't afford it, that's the obvious explanation.

It's the magnificent James Nursey in one of his sly dig at Villa moods.

The confusing thing is that I'm sure Nursey tweeted a week or so ago that Lambert wasn't after Naughton.

He's tieing himself in knots. It's looking likely he knows very little. Even Kendrick gets scraps and probably finds out most transfer news when we do.

I didn't realise Naughton only had a year left?  If they're after £6m, then that would put his 'true' value at close to £10m, which is ridiculous.

Anyway, even if true it's probably just the opening gambit in the saga, so wouldn't be at all surprised to see a compromise position reached somewhere down the line.

Don't know. I reckon Villa hope to get their business done fairly soon this summer and won't be interested in fannying about with Spurs. Not that many clubs have anything like the money Spurs want for Naughton so if they don't want to do business we should give them an ultimatum and move on sharpish.

Maybe we could over Spurs a straight swap of Hutton for Naughton. After all, the former is an international with plenty of Premier League experience.

I doubt Nursey would know what price Spurs are asking for and when you're negotiating, you will always start with an inflated value. That said there's a kid at Crystal Palace who could be a better signing than Naughton who would probably be easier to sign and could be cheaper.

Approximately £3 million would be a fair price for Naughton, given the fact he has one year on his contract and he's never really played for Spurs.

6m for Naughton? Christ, Spurs operate in their own world of transfer valuations don't they. I'd rather us go for Clyne at Palace if that's the case, Spurs have had more than enough money from us.

Although I do rate Naughton, I think £6m is way too much for a player that is way down the pecking order at Spurs.  As others have mentioned, it is all good and well moaning about the amount of foreign players in the English game, but when the value of homegrown players is so over inflated, is it really any surprise?

Not overly happy to see us being linked with Chris Gunter again, as having seen him play for Wales quite a few times he has never looked too convincing.

Why spend the money in the first place? Why not give Lichaj and/or Herd a run at right back and get rid of Hutton? I'd say a ;left back is far more important and Naughton isnt the best option out there.

How much is Kyle Naughton realistically worth if £6m is too much?

Much has been said about the problems of the English team...there are many reasons why the national side struggles at the top level but a part of that is due to the unrealistic prices placed on English players therefore making managers seek cheaper but equally as good alternatives from abroad bringing more foreign players into the domestic game.

That's pretty much how I see it, we've got young English players with agents demanding high wages and high transfers before they've even achieved anything. and the sad thing is that there will always be a team willing to pay over the odds.

I thought kyle Naughton would be a decent signing but not at £6M
