I'd imagine the link with the Feyenoord player is probably true, even if the Wiki entry of him actually signing is premature.  After the link to the DCM at Ajax the other week, it seems highly plausible that Bertie has rightly identified that as a weakness in the team and also that he sees value from the smaller European leagues, like Holland.

Whittingham I'm unsure about as I think he's found his level in the Championship and would just be ordinary back in the PL.  An OK signing if we're trying to tread water in midtable, but not the type of player to help us climb back towards the Euro places.
Sign Whittingham and send Bannan to Cardiff for a year on loan.

Only downside is that he is very very much only right footed.

Clark, Bannan and Delph are all left footed so a right footed midfielder won't go amiss.
Do those 3 actually use their right foots occasionally though? From the clips of Karim El Ahmadi, he actually goes out of his way to kick with his right foot with what I can only describe as a reverse long ball...would have been an amazing pass if his team mate hadnt been flagged for offside!

I really would prefer us to look for better than Whittingham.

Whittingham would make alot of sense. Lambert played with a midfield diamond alot didn't he?

El Ahmadi as the holding player, Whittingham to the left, Ireland at the tip of the diamond behind the front two.

Would be nice addition if it turns out to be true. He looks very tidy which is very important. It killed me last year watching some of our lot trying to control and pass, and especially on one of the finest playing surfaces in Europe. We need a player who is going chase things down and lay it off to another payer successfully. A better version of NRC if you will. I have no problem with Whittingham either. He is a far better player than when he left and we shouldn't be swayed by having some knowledge of the player he was and giving up on him.

Without seeing too much of them (a few matches of Anita, none that I remember of El Ahmadi), I'd be very happy if we got regular starter DCM with passing ability from one of the dutch giants for the prices quoted. Great coup d'el Ahmadi.

Anita can play at full back too can't he? Would not be shocked to see him come too. Central midfield has been a massive problem for 2 seasons, Makoun is still a little unknown, and a couple of athletic, good players that are able to trap and pass a ball in there to compete would be very useful.

Back of the Birmingham Mail has Redmond to West Ham for £1m.  Fuck knows what truth is in that, but if any we should be trying to hijack the deal!

Saw that as well, £1m plus add-ons.  I think the kid has great potential and would be a steal for that price.  I still think we could do with another wide option and that he would be a good addition.
