I don't see how N'Zogbia and Johnson wouldn't be able to play in the same team myself.  One either side of Bent and that's a very potent attack.  OK, they may not do as much chasing back as we'd like, but haven't we had enough of being too defensive after last season?  Play a hard working central three to balance it up a bit and that'd be a pretty decent side!

We're very short on central midfield quality. If we bought Johnson we'd need some quality to cover the work in midfield. Diame?

One incident in particular I can't post as may get a mate in trouble but when he told me, Adam Johnson went high up on the list of premiership tossers

Up with Stephen Ireland from what I've heard about him. To be honest I should imagine there are an awful lot of premiership tossers.

Without a doubt mate. I was tempted to sell what I was told to the papers if I knew my mate wouldn't get rumbled

Diame is an option, but we need that sort of DCM player regardless of who else come sin or what system we play.  The important thing would be the energy of the other two to be true box to box players and support the front three while also doing the wide players defensive job for them at times.

James Milner would be ideal!

funny how Milner has gone from an attacking midfielder/winger to a box-to-box midfielder, or even a holdign player now, maybe this is because his hard-work is his best attribute, he is a good player, but it seems his end product is being knocked out of him. He would be amazing for us, but it won't happen. We're more likely to end up with someone like Hendry Thomas who has left Wigan. I'd like Herd to keep this role, but I feel he can't do it well enough at times. A little rash.

Maybe, but on paper that looks to be one of the laziest and selfish front threes around though. Holman is supposedly a grafter, Marc is and Ireland gets about the pitch putting pressure on the ball, so surely one of them will be involved.

We need players who are going to really give their all. I can't see Bent, Johnson and N'Zogbia getting their shorts dirty at all.

Just to clarify, I wasn't suggesting Milner as a holding player, just using him as an example of the type of hard working, yet still talented, midfielder we'd need to balance things out with the front three I was suggesting/commenting on.  I think his stock has dropped since he left us as neither club nor country has played him in his best position - central midfield!

Holman does have a reputation for graft, so him at the front of a midfield three would be a start to redressing the balance of the side.

The main point being that if a front three of Bent, N'Zog and Johnson were to score and create the goals they can, then lets allow them to do so by balancing the midfield behind them to pick up the defensive work they'd be lacking.

Bertie's Norwich side did score a lot and ship a lot, so maybe this is his philosophy also?

Talking of selling players' dirty secrets to the press, I had some dirt on a couple of b-losers that I tried to sell to the papers. Every rag I rang didn't give a toss, because they were only b-lose.

Seeing as you're not going to make any money off it, care to share for free?

Best not, legal ramifications and violent repercussions could ensue. Would have risked it for cash.

Sorry.

Maybe the press didn't want the story because whatever they had done was less embarassing than playing for them in the first place?  Bit like trying to sell a story on Harold Shipman getting a parking ticket!

EDIT: and if a cash incentive is needed, I'm willing to donate the change from today's lunch, which comes to a grand total of 37 whole English pence.
