Well another week has drifted by... targets have been identified, but not much action is there?  This is beginning to feel like the days of MoN.  Maybe I just got a little carried away with the swift appointment but I thought we would have seen, or at least heard something by now.

Having come this far we can't give up on Ireland now. I'd give him another 12 months.

Not true.

Or were Man Utd were granted special dispensation to sign Powell?

Or us with Holmann, or Chelsea with Hazard? Etc.

there's nothing to worry about. Once it gets going yer head's going to be spinning like the front door at VP with all of the comings and goings. I can see upwards of 10-12 deals being done (8 in, 4 out my guess) in the space of 2 months which is a lot. That includes Holman as one of the ins off course.

Think there is definitely something in the links with Naughton and Chris Gunter and I'm glad, because that's the route we should be taking.

Rather than any more Hutton or N'Zog esque deals.

There's absolutely no way Olof Mellberg doesn't own an axe.

I want Mellberg back. I love him. That beard needs to grace Villa park once again! He looked in good nick to be fair. Didn't have much help from Swedens awful fullbacks. One season. Go on Lambert. Get him on the cheap as back up.

Mellberg over Dunne any day.

REJOICE! REJOICE!

I know it is only the Mirror, but the mere thought this might be true fills my heart with unbridled joy. He's one of the most witless, hopeless players we've had in a long, long time.

Push the Hutton: New Villa boss Lambert wants rid of their right-back

The Scotland defender is told to find a new club as manager plots a move for Tottenham starlet who played for him on loan at Norwich last season

New Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert is set to start his shake-up by axing Alan Hutton.

Villa's Scottish right-back Hutton became a target for their terrace boo-boys last term after a £3million summer switch from Tottenham.

The Scot became a scapegoat as Villa struggled for wins and goals under compatriot and unpopular boss Alex McLeish.

Brought in to replace reliable defender Luke Young, who joined QPR, Hutton notched seven yellows and a red while failing to win over the supporters.

Now fellow Scot Lambert, aiming to revive Villa after they came 16th last term, has told Hutton's agent to find him another club.

Ex-Norwich boss Lambert wants to replace him with Spurs' Kyle Naughton, who he had on loan at Carrow Road last season.

Although Nursey needs to learn the meaning of the word 'scapegoat'.
