Can't quite workout how Lambert will delve into the transfer market now he has a decent budget and a bigger club. Obviously he's bought largely British and value for money, but he was operating in the lower leagues for the majority of that time. Personally I'd love to see something like:

Possibly In:
John Ruddy Probably Norwich's best player last year, into the last year of his contract only 25 £4m
Guram Kashia (CB - Vitesse Arnhem) Made the Eredivisie team of the season for 11/12 £5m
Kyle Naughton - As already said, really good prospect, maybe not developed as quickly as Mr Walker has but very useful can cover both fullback positions. Think he and Eric Lichaj could be our FB for a long time. £5m
Etienne Capoue - (DCM Toulouse) Been a long time admirer of this guy, sadly though I think he may be destined for a CL team somewhere. If we could get him he would be the brick wall between defence and midfield we desperately need. He's also got a great range of passing and last season showed he can get up for the odd goal too. £10-12m
Adam Johnson - Felt he was the better option when we got Downing, although the profit on Downing was worth it in the end. Looked at his stats for last season - featured in 26 Prem games, 16 as a sub and scored 6 goals with 6 assists. Think he is exactly the player that will provide Bent with 20+ goals for the season. £13m bargain!
Luciano Narsingh - (LW/RW/No.10 Heerenveen) Saw a lot of this guy last season he's absolutely electric, the reason Bas Dost ended up with 32 league goals. Dost went to Wolfsburg for £8m so Narsingh should be available for £6-8m himself
Romelu Lukaku (CF Chelsea Season Loan) Showed bags of potential in Belgium, not had the chance in the Prem yet and not likely to if Chelsea are after players like Hulk. I know some people don't like the idea of loans, up-skilling other teams players etc.. but he could be a means to an end to get us further up the table and more attractive next summer. Better option that a 31 year old Grant Holt IMO.

Possible Outs:

Warnock - Times up
Collins - Bad influence
Hutton - Nuff said
N'Zogbia - Don't think he'd work hard enough for Lambert
Delfouneso - Either one last season long loan somewhere he will start each game or move on

...........................Ruddy..........................

Naughton......Kashia........Dunne.........Lichaj

Johnson.......Capoue......Makoun......Narsingh

..................Lukaku......Bent.........................

Subs: Given, Clark, Baker, Gardner, Holman, Gabby, Weimann

You're getting rid of Ireland then?
Clark would be a first-choice CB for me.
Herd / Albrighton? - not good enough, I think you're saying.
Looks light re cover at FB.

Personally I don't rate Herd as a good footballer  ....
Opinions, opinions.
I saw in Herd a very good footballer: his positioining and anticipation is excellent (he covered both FB from time to time from MF last season); his passing is - well- at the very least passable (I remember 3 or 4 raking passes away at Blackburn in the first half that set up good attacking moves); he has goal instincts (goal at Liverpool plus efforts at WBA and ARse); he's got attitude.
Sort of agree, kind of don't at the same time. In midfield he offers little in my opinion, as a full back I would have him any day ahead of Hutton. Great engine, puts his noggin on anything and tackles with a little more composure than Hutton. Lambert will cast his eye over things and see where certain individuals should be playing.

Definately see where your coming from.  Though i think Lichaj is miles better than Herd and Hutton. Herd would be my second choice right back. But he's not a Premiership quality Midfielder. I'd like to see a bit of flair and culture I'm midfield for a change!

I like Herd but agree Lichaj is a better RB than Herd and not quite a first team MF. Not many people talking about Baker, who i think has the makings of a future first team CH. He was excellent against Sunderland and various other games ........

Absolutely. Bakers got the making of a fantastic centre half. Reads the game very well and hes got great positioning. Was class in particular away at Liverpool. I think ic we can get two new centre halfs but ship out Collins. And allow Baker more game time. Not forgetting its a massive season for Clark.

Mister E not necessarily getting rid of the players you've stated, it would just be the signs of a strong squad, although I have my doubts over Albrighton as a Prem player.

Not that I'm saying my wishlist is a reality, but closer to reality we would probably be looking at either Johnson or Narsingh as we have Holman coming in already, thus freeing up a place in the match day 18 for Herd or Ireland. Fullback wise Naughton, Lichaj, Stevens, Herd, Clark and Baker is plenty of cover for me. Haven't seen Clark perform well enough at CB to justify the acclaim you've given him, again IMO.

linked with Diame on twitter ( I know) but he would be a good start on a bosman IMO and I would go for John Gudetti on loan from City

I've seen a few vague on-line links to a loan-move for Oriol Romeu at Chelsea in the last 24 hours. It's quite random so maybe Lambert had shown some interest in taking him to Norwich beforehand...?

That Luciano Narsingh sounds quite the little player BV. Signing astute, promising young signings like that will have me down Villa Park in a flash.

Hey be fair, they're at least the 10th biggest team in Germany.

Brett Holman and yes he's signed - he was at Bodymoor on the day TSM was saying his goodbyes.
