that list that Lamberts got probably reads-

1.  Grant Holt
2.  someone quite good to play midfield
3.  someone who can run around a lot and not get very tired
4.  G Holt
eh???
Why would a striker be his priority?

thats just who i think is on his list

I think buying Grant Holt twice is an extravagant waste of resources.

He'd get 34 goals though?

The Daily Star via Twitter is saying that Holt will be announced as our player as early as next week

Yeah, but they know and Mat Kendrick, Tim Abraham, MM on Villatalk and the more reliable folk at the Grauniad don't? I find that unlikely.

wouldnt it be good to produce a sports  newspaper called the daily bollocks which took issue with every publication that told utter porky pies on transfers

I'd read that. Like an expanded version of the Guardian Rumour Mill section.

twitter Bs or ture - should we spend that much on one player when we need a back four who dont kick it into orbit every time or try too remove other players legs as they have seen the ball honest ref !

The defence can wait though a little, and could be operated on a sell to buy. Especially if we took Cuellar back on a free for example. If we have a half decent budget, Johnson for anything between 10 and 12 million would be a brilliant first signing, and give us a real creative outlet. Get Phillips down the right and sell NZogbia to raise some funds maybe. Even selling Gabby for 10 and buying Holt for 3-4 million would free up funds. Creativity over the refreshing of the squad could accommodate a couple of big moves like that.

In the little that I saw, Ince looked the better prospect out of him and Phillips.

Dunne, Collins and Warnock are all now into the last year of their contracts aren't they? Could be a good time to ship them out if we want the wages gone and Randy is happy to stump up the fees for replacements!

Keane is in the same category as Holt for me, just too old!

The Guardian are saying there are 4 or 5 names on the hitlist with Lambert confirming some are at the Euros.

Yes, and I take that guardian story to merit at least 40 pages of speculation about which players at the euros we might be talking about. We'd be wise to do business early before values get inflated.

I'll kick it off with: pogbreynak, Strootman, L de Jong, Bender, Keane, Doyle,Pranjic, m m olsson, j olsson, Elm, kallstrom, Giroud, debuchy, Matuidi,
