Out of all the options he must have had/have, this is a very strange choice

Certainly is.  They've got money to spend as they've sold Reus, but why he chose them...no idea.

From Vital Football...

Hoilett is understood to be either close to or maybe even signed a four year contract with the Gladbach who finished 4th in the 2011/12 Bundesliga season.

Hoilett is reported to have already been in Gladbach the past week, checking on possible houses to move into.

He has also reported to have had his medical with club Doctor Heribert Ditzel. and successfully passed it.

Unfortunately for Rovers, with EU regulations for young players being different in mainland Europe, Gladbach will only be due to pay a training fee of 800,000 Euros (less then £500,000 to Blackburn Rovers.

To add more salt to already existing wounds, Gladbach Director Max Eberl da. has recently boasted about the club picking up a bargain, and Hoilett's valuation being around 8 million euros in the German press.

So a highly inflated signing on fee then!

most likely it will be the same sort of deal where genoa was it brought kevin prince boateng from pompy and instantly loaned him to ac milan the day he signed, i reckon dortmund or bayern have suggested they pick him up see how hes does and have a deal already in place to transfer him to them should he succeed with gladbach

Like to see Jay Rodriguez (loan Delfonseo for a season @ burnley as part of the deal)   Douglas Franco Teixeira, Martin Olsson, Nathan Clyne/Jose Bosingwa and James Milner

Don't see the point of having Murphy.

We need a Capoue/Sandro type of midfielder to command the centre of midfield.N'Zonzi does'nt impress me, but a tall, competative midfielder. If we could get him then my no 1 target would be Capoue.

As good a LB as we can get, would probably try to get Taiwono from QPR.

Got a feeling Micah Richards might be available this summer as well, so maybe him in the back 4, preferably as a CH, as i think that might be his long term position.

A cheeky offer for Milner on loan might not go amiss as well.

I would keep Gabby for at least 1 season.Responded well to the authoratative management style of MON, might be more of a success under PL.

This guy has it on the money. We have a rack of tidy sub 6 foot centre midfielders. What we're crying out for is a Patrick Viera/Yaya Toure style, athletic, striding, bullish, born leader, born winner to become our new captain.

And no, I don't know who that would be. Milner could do it but i doubt he'd consider it.

Maybe he wants to play the Favre way and feels there's a great opening for him since Reus left. Always refreshing to see some unexpected traffic OUT of the Premier League.

Here's a great article on the way Borussia Mönchengladbach play.

Edit: I forgot to add he probably also feels he can learn a lot from Alexander Ring.

de Jong and Frimpong. Exactly the sort of midfielders we need.

Hoillet is in Toronto right now watching Canada vs USA. He might qualify to play for Canada. He was interviewed regarding his club future and specifically the stories that he is going to Germany and he said nothing at all has been decided. He denied having signed for anyone.

Frimpong would be excellent. If Arsenal sign M'Villa and or another couple they have been linked with, a bid to buy Frimpong would be well worth it.

I would also take Huddlestone still if he could get fit.

I'd be up for those as options as well. Fingers crossed Lambert feels that department is a priority also.

De Jong would be a great signing, but he must be on mega bucks and will surely want better than us.

It depends what type of player he wants. Norwich didn't seem to play with a standard defensive midfielder for the back half of last season. But then they couldbt keep a clean sheet for love nor money until you know who came to town

We may look abroad here I reckon. I didn't realise jermaine jones of Schalke was at Blackburn last year. I thought he might be an option?  Also kara Mbodj, or someone from France. They seem to produce quite a few decent players in that position. I don't know enough about them individually though
