Don't see the point of having Murphy.

We need a Capoue/Sandro type of midfielder to command the centre of midfield.N'Zonzi does'nt impress me, but a tall, competative midfielder. If we could get him then my no 1 target would be Capoue.

As good a LB as we can get, would probably try to get Taiwono from QPR.

Got a feeling Micah Richards might be available this summer as well, so maybe him in the back 4, preferably as a CH, as i think that might be his long term position.

A cheeky offer for Milner on loan might not go amiss as well.

I would keep Gabby for at least 1 season.Responded well to the authoratative management style of MON, might be more of a success under PL.

We need a few older heads and captain-type players. Murphy would be a good acquisition.

"Martin o'Neil to give Gabby Agbonglahor the chance to resurect his career"

He might well prefer to go there under Pubehead than stay under Lambert.

If we could get Holt for three or four million I'd probably do it. Murphy on a free for a year too, why not. Said to be a future coach/manager and we lack experience in midfield, especially with Stan gone.

Aside from those two I wouldn't be looking at many other over 25's though. Unless Given goes or we can make a move for Pienaar.

I wouldn't be too against selling Given, he's a great 'keeper but his contract is going to kill us in a few years. I think I'm right in saying he's got another four years left... Taking him up until he's 39. Resigning Guzan and getting someone like Foster or Ruddy on less wages and half the free we'd receive from Given might be valuable for us in other areas.

I would to. It's what we paid for Heskey and we'd get a few more goals out of him.

There are a couple of the younger ones that may make it such as Herd but we have quite a few that have had plenty of chances to make their mark and failed such as Delfonso and Bannon. They are not kids anymore and need to be moved on along with most of the seniors. A massive investment is needed but i don't think Randy is up for it.

Not sure Bannan has had plenty of chances - and last season was no time to judge potential...not under McLeish.

Fonz - only ever started 3 matches in his career. I think he has talent - but not sure if he will ever get the run of games to show it.  And to think he is only 6  months older than Weimann....so is he still a kid?

I have a feeling he will want to stay and play for Lambert.

I hope so.If he gets to play in the right position then he will do really well again. Should make a massive difference with the positive attitude that Lambert will bring also, instead of the negativity of the previous bollox.

Despite the fact that Lerner is going to give Lambert a 'war chest' (whatever that is?) I think we would be foolish to not consider the out of contract players. The first player I would consider from the free agents list would be Tomasz Kuszczak. A more than suitable deputy to Given and I wouldn't have thought he would cost a fortune in wages. Offer him the cup games as a definite start and I think he would be  a good start to the re-building.
The next free agent signing I would go for would be Pavel Pogrebnyak, he knows what the Premiership is about. He scored a few for Fulham last season and caused teams problems. He'd also not cost us what Grant Holt will cost us!
Owen Hargreaves would be a player I would CONSIDER, if he was given a sensible play as you play contract based on the fact he could play a minimum of 20-25 games a season it would be one worth gambling on.
This would leave Lambert his transfer budget to buy a whole new back four. Only Ciaran Clark would survive the defensive clearout.

Given has been outstanding and is probably only one of a couple of players who has been consistent. We have other areas that need to be addressed rather than looking at Given. Both full backs need replacing. Midfield needs a leader and we have got to have a striker other than Bent who can score goals. We need first team replacements that can be backed up by the young lads coming through. Rather than relying on them to be pivotal in the first team ........

Word on twitter is that Sturridge is on the transfer list. Would love to see him line up for us.
