Now this sounds familiar...

'Daily Hate: Sunderland manager Martin O'Neill is considering moves for Wolves striker Steven Fletcher and Chelsea defender Ryan Bertrand.'

£85,000 per week, seven-year contracts for both presumably.

I'm sure he is considering them. Stay tuned and by the end of August he might have made his mind up!

This quote from F365 made me chuckle.

"Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill has indicated he may move quickly to try to sign some out-of-contract players this summer."

I know that literally nobody is going to agree with me on this, but I'd like us to go for Michael Owen on a pay as you play deal now he's been released by Man United. He still bangs them in when he's fit, and could contribute a good ten goals if he isn't injured. A pay as you play deal, if he'd accept this, would obviously mean we wouldn't lose out much if he gets injured.

mate, his interest in football is minimal at best now. He hasn't been fully fit at Man U, and he's not going to play for a mid table PL team, when his main passion is outside of the game with his horses. Plus at this stage of his career, he would have no interest in playing for a team outside of one going for trophies. Money won't be a major motivator either because he's completely minted.

It seemed to be a way of consoling ourselves after a link to a particularly underwhelming player. Oh he's a 'MON type player', oh 'MON will get the best out of him even though he is a complete donkey'.

Owen on a pay-as-you-play deal would be OK by me, but I doubt he'd ever accept that, so it's pretty much a non-starter.

Plus, it might hold Weimann back, which would be a big mistake.

Owen? Why would we be after a poacher when we have Bent and Weimann?
