Nzonzi, Dann and Hoilett would be an improvement on Collins, Albrighton and Clark (in midfield)
Pedersen and Yakubu - no thanks.
The only Dingles worth considering I would say are Jarvis and Kightly, maybe even Fletcher.

It shows how our ambitions have changed when we're trying to pick the carcass out of the relegated teams.

I might be wrong on  mark drapers and southgates as relegated buys?
but i think hadjis , james collins, mccann sorensons and alan thompson defo were.
So I think there are times we have taken from the relegated teams from what i remember. Before this I don't know but since I recall such ambitions have been for players who may add to squad

Succesive relegations for Dann and Johnson, hopefully that will dispell the myth of them being anything other than a pair of duffers.

I'd stop after the first 2, they're both worth a look (Hoilett particularly seeing as he's free).

Whilst we're at it, no one from wolves, no one from bolton and no one from qpr for me.

Peter Page, who's been a Villa supporter since we were renown as a club with a good FA Cup record, reckons we've always picked our transfer targets on the basis of who got relegated and played well against us.

I don't rate that Nzonzi at all.

That criteria most definately applied to Boateng.

We wil need to replace Heskey:-

Emile Heskey: I'm definitely leaving Aston Villa

EMILE Heskey is on the lookout for a new Premier League club after revealing he will definitely leave Villa after next weekend’s season finale at Norwich.

Heskey’s three-and-a-half year contact expires in the summer and a new deal for the 34-year-old frontman has not been discussed with the claret and blues.

The former England striker is keen to prolong his top flight career rather than retire, but would also consider a return to first club Leicester in the Championship.

Heskey hobbled out of the draw with Tottenham with a sore instep and faces a fitness battle to be available for a Villa farewell appearance at Carrow Road on Sunday.

“I haven’t got a club to be honest,” said Heskey.

“Obviously my contract is up, so I just take it day by day and see what crops up.

“I’m 34, I still feel I can play so I don’t see why I need to retire just now.

“There are no contract talks so I will be looking elsewhere.

“I still want to play at Premier League level.

“From when I started I always said I wanted to play at the highest level, wherever that might be.”

Heskey is open to the idea of returning to home city club Leicester and insists he has enjoyed his time at Villa since joining from Wigan for £3.5 million in January 2009.

The burly striker, who also played for Liverpool and Blues, has struggled to win over fans with just 14 goals in 70 league and cup starts and 39 substitute appearances.

And Heskey will have to take a cut on the £50,000-plus per week wages, which Villa could no longer afford for an outfield player of his age as they strive to reduce the wagebill.

“I’m not going to turn anything down,” he said.

“I’ll look at anything, have a little break, and then see what offers there are.

“I’ve had a good time at Villa.

“We got to the Carling Cup final and an FA Cup semi-final, which gave me the chance at Wembley again, so I can’t complain.”

Heskey will combine his next playing move with doing his coaching badges – insisting Alex McLeish’s experiences have not put him off a potential management career.

“I haven’t started them yet,” he said. “I’m actually starting them now, so that is another avenue I’m going down now.

“It’s not been easy for the manager here, but he is a battler, and I’m sure he will battle on again.”

“Will he still be here next season? It’s best to ask the players that will be.

“I don’t see why not. We are more or less safe now so he will be looking forward to next year.”

Heskey insists there was a strong sense of relief in the dressing room on Sunday after admitting injury-hit Villa have got “into a bit of a rut” recently.

“It is a massive weight off our shoulders,” he said. “We have left it late, but the lads have been battling on.

“Sometimes when you get into a bit of a rut, your head gets down and you can’t find yourselves getting out of it.

“But we’ve all got to stick together and rally and try and push ourselves forward.”

On his injury, Heskey added: “It’s my ankle, I did it against Bolton. Hopefully it will be okay for next week but we’ll take it day by day.”

Well fuck me.  I was thinking of going to bed but feel like cracking the champagne.  Great news.

Good luck Emile.

Dann and N'Zonzi are pretty awful in my opinion. Wouldn't touch them with bargoles.

Were that to occur then the highlight of the season will actually be the end of it.

Well I don't want him to go, but if he is, good luck Emile and thank you. X Good luck and best wishes.
I'd far rather he stayed. His contributions have been very much appreciated.

Except in 2009.
