Don't fancy a central midfield at all then. I'd hope we'd cast our net a bit wider.

In - a new manager that has a completely different philosophy on how to play the game. The players that we need will then look after itself.

Olic is a good player, bearing in mind our forward line is so lame (in more ways than 1) he would be a decent signing.

Go and get Lee Holden and NRC back from Bolton.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Gardner snr back here!

Just a nagging feeling.

Olic has gone to another German side I believe.

With Cuellar going, I would now:

Sell

Collins - latest incident is a final nail
Warnock,
Guzan goes free out of contract
Delph - time to cut our losses and may see some cash back, plus a decent sell on clause
NZogbia - IF Eck stays, then he has to go, as 1 is clearly not motivated by the other

Buy
Kello - free
Phillips, Ince, Moses - may cost 15-20 million to get them, but it is money well spent. All 3 are young, pacey, and could give us something totally different, plus replace what we lost with Ash and Milner going forward.
Bring back Makoun alongside Herd, so we can use the ball a bit better
Get a target man that can score too, maybe Rhodes is worth a shot, maybe the big Dutch lad can be convinced. Heskey up there the last 2 weeks has shown how much happier we are with a forward that can bring others into the game up top.
Play Clark next to Dunne - Dunne leads, and when captain the last 2 weeks apart from 1 moment today has been immense.
Sign a good quality left back please - Clyne would be a good start, maybe try and nick Naughton from Spurs too - he is still on loan at Norwich isn't he? I think we lack any pace at the moment, and we need to add youthful, fearless pace back into the side.
Guthrie - free - and useful with some experience

Then look at what has gone down - Fletcher, Lee at Bolton if they drop is a good player as is Holden, Dann, Olson, NZonzi at Blackburn maybe.

We have to address the midfield. A holding player and an energetic box to box player. Both must have an ability to pass! I think Ireland can play in a central two and Herd has done well this season, but that midfield needs some new ideas, steel and pace.

A winger is critical. Albrighton is useful in the squad but he is not good enough for me to start every week. Somebody must be able to motivate Charlie? His delivery and final ball is woeful, but we have all seen him do it.

Holman will add some running if nothing else in the hole or on the right handside. He should prove useful in changing our shape as and when.

I think we need a unit to supplement Bent and Gabby. I dont think either will be sold.

A left back is a must. I would love to see us actually use our full backs to attack again. A small hope. I think one of Collins and Dunne should be shown the door and a new centre half come in.

Last but not least the biggest signing has to be a new manager. I would like to bring Lambert back to B6 next week.

He may be a free transfer but I don't think he'd be anything other than very fucking expensive.

Regarding the two bits in bold.  I don't think Ireland has got the engine to play in a midfield two and can only really play in the hole.  He has got undoubted talent, but I personally don't think he is worth the reported £80,000 a week he is paid and I would move himon this summer.

I agree with your comment about needing a big man up front to complemet Gabby and Bent.  Reports in the paper suggest that Stoke need to lighten their wage bill this summer, so maybe someone like Crouch or Kenwynne Jones would do.

Someone with a bit of pace wouldn't go amiss either. Without Gabby in the side we really are a slow side.

But what is Gabby good at?

If we're discussing whether to have Gabby and Bent or Ireland and Bent then it's the latter option every time.

Ireland is a player we should be building a team around. Selling him would be suicidal; regardless of his wage. In a proper team with a proper manager, Gabby, Bent and Ireland would fit into the same team anyway.
