I wonder how relevant it is that Wigan's recent excellent form coincides almost exactly with when Diame was moved from the first team to the bench.

They've been also been good since Maloney got back from injury. I'd happily have him back, he looked a decent footballer.
Sean (Shaun) Malloney, another one that slipped through the net!!

Saw today that Joe Lewis has been released by Peterborough.  I'm surprised at that, as he was in the England squad not long ago.  Might not be a bad shout for a back up keeper if Guzan moves on in the summer.

The Paul Scholes deal is off. He will not be coming to Villa.

If that was a deal in the making then it sounds like McLeish will be going after all.

Call me cynical, but could it of been an attempt to keep McLeish his job?
Trying to pacify fans by sacking Grant and replacing him with Scholes as player-coach?

Call me cynical, but why would Scholes come out of semi-retirement to come to Villa regardless of who the manager was?

I agree. And I'm not sure a player on the verge of retirement who is so much entrenched in the folklore of another club is what we need right now.

Scholes never made sense to me.

He only came out of retirement as fergie asked him and seemed happy staying with Utd and coaching the kids.  So convincing him to come here in ANY capacity would take a big pile of money, which is something we don't want to do right now.

Clyne, Tomkins, Mariappa, Guthrie, O'Hara, Phillips, Zaha, Moses, Jay Rodriguez
I like the look of that, well...not that keen on O'Hara, but the rest are young-ish and have done a bit. I'd also try for Diame off Wigan, out of contact in the summer, and if we've any money to spend, then perhaps a proper centre half, Huth, Shawcross or even Dann.

Angelina Jolie has just been on the blower and she's called off the dirty weekend in Las Vegas.

Yes, sorry about that.
I'm taking her to Chessington World of Adventures with Scarlett Johansson.
