He needs a goal in the short term, longer term he needs a run without injuries which he hasn't had for 12 months.

I don't care who he supported as a kid, I think it's pretty obvious he's a Villa fan now. For a similar example, wasn't Carragher an Evertonian as a child? And I wouldn't consider selling him, I still think he's one of our better players. He doesn't look remotely fit at the moment, but Gabby will get it back.

I would sell Gabby TBH.  Think he has lost the passion, and has become to inconsistant and injury prone.  I know he is still young, but if we can get decent money for him then I would do it now.  Fact is if we hold on to Bent and can keep him fit, and use the likes of Weimann and Heskey to their best then I don't think we should have that many problems up front.

Else where I would like to see us sign both Matt Jarivs and Jouior Heilott.  Jarvis is a good young player, who is a relaible crosser and will chip in with a few goals also, and Hoilett has been one of the players of the season is a struggling Rovers side.  He would add that vital invention which we so badly need.  We could also do with signing a new defenisve coach of course ;)

What? - signing people who play in overseas leagues? not very much like Villa, that!

I believe Hoilett is off to Marseille, read that on Sporting Life today somewhere.

Fair enough if that is the case, but he is for sure the kind of playmaker we need, and Jarvis would be a very good buy too.

I would go for Victor Moses at Wigan. 21 a year left on his contract and he's refusing to sign. The next Ashley Young?

Moses, Jarvis and Steven Fletcher would be three great buys.

Jarvis would be a good addition for me.  He can play on both sides and although I would maybe want a quality starting RW brought in, I think Jarvis would be a good addition to the squad.

Bannan has, for me, suffered from poor first team coaching and tactics. His skills would be shown in a team who practice more pass-and-move football and play with greater fluidity. It's no accident that his best season, when he played a good run of games and achieved an international call-up, came under the progressive coaching of GH. If I were Bannan, and McLeish stayed this summer, I would definitely ask for a move. Swansea would make something of him, you feel.

Could'nt agree more, i think he's a bloody good footballer.

He's talented, but very frustrating. He gives the ball away so much and his positional play is poor. That 'good season' involved 2 excellent games, a few average ones, and then a spell at Leeds where he couldn't get a start. Hardly setting the world on fire.

I don't know where his best position is, but it's probably in a 3 man midfield, in a 433, where he can do a bit of everything. I don't like him on the right at all, I think it leaves us really out of shape. Wouldn't sell him though, as I can't see who would buy him for a decent price. Worth seeing if he can come good.

You can tell I'm bored, I just did an internet search to see if I could get an clips of Brett Holman. I found this set of highlights from his performance against Holland, which I thought would be interesting.

Unfortunately, it's clearly not been made by his number one fan.  His performance resembles a drunk under 17 year old girl on her debut.

Any of the teams likely to go down got a half decent right back?

I hope we go nowhere near Jarvis, i've seen Wolves almost as many times as Villa this season and he's an infuriating headless chicken.

Feel bad saying this but if we could get 10-12m for Gabby think it is time for him to go. Think he needs a new challenge. We need our scoutng team to find a young hungry foreign striker preferably tall and good in the air. Combine that money with whatever Lener is offering due to the end of contracts for several players and start the rebuild ...........

Not particularly. I would much rather see us go for a foreign right back that might be a potential gem than shopping around the relegated clubs. We've got more than enough cover at right back with Lichaj, Hutton and Herd to try out an untested right back from a different league.
