Baker's mistake yesterday only came about because two other people failed to clear the ball as well. He should never have been put in the position where he could make a mistake.

I see Ricardo Fuller is on a free at the end of the season from Stoke.
I'll be amazed if McFuckwit doesn't go in for him.

Well Lichaj and Wiemann have scored more goals than Heskey who was recently an England international. Other than the one mistake against the premiership champions. Baker was very good and has been recently in other games. So i would consider that they have been exceptional compared to the likes of Albrighton, Bannan and Gabby who have been awful ........

seem to recall baker being at fault for 2 or 3 goals against Chelsea. Bolton last season, wasnt he taken off before half time in another game.

He did very well against Stoke particularly and also Arsenal. Has promise but Clark is probably the centre half we are hoping will break through. Two left footed centre halves arent likely to make a good partnership.

lichaj is a solid defender and seems to have lost that rash streak when he broke through last season. Fairly limited on the ball but Id have him ahead of either Hutton or Warnock.

I've been impressed with Baker so far this season.  Ok he has made a few mistakes but im sure that will happen to a young player who has been thrown in at the deep end.  I'd like to see clark as a centre half though.  I dont quite think he has got it to be a DM.

I caught that goal very briefly yesterday and tbh the position Baker was in was a no win one. Leave it and hope no one is behind him (Given shout might have helped) or make contact and probably score an OG.

I think the ball was comfortably within range to either boot it back in the direction it came from or even take a touch and then do so. But that comes with experience of course. Apart from that he's looked promising IMO.

Macca would have back-heeled it to the half-way line.

Baker SHOULD have dealt with it, and he could have without scoring an OG. But he saw two senior players leave it and he did the same, so he can't take full responsibility. All it takes is someone telling him to smash it away.

It was a bad mistake from Baker, an error of judgement. But not entirely unexpected from a young lad who hasn't played all season for the first team and then suddenly faces Chelsea, Liverpool and Man Utd in quick succession. Overall, he's done quite well. I see now reason why he can't be our 4th choice CB next season.

In terms of defenders, in the summer we'll see Cuellar leave, and I think Dunne and Warnock should be sold. I'd be looking to sign a new CB to partner Clark next season, Collins and Baker as back-up.

Lichaj should be our starting RB with Hutton in reserve, we need a new LB with Stevens as cover.

I personally think all of the full backs at the club (excluding Stevens, as we haven't seen him properly) aren't good enough. Lichaj, Hutton, Warnock are just not up to it.

I think if Baker was right-footed it would have ended up by the half-way line.

What happened with that Slovakian keeper we were supposed to be signing over the weekend? Anyone know?

Wasn't he only coming over for a trial initially?  I was a bit confused with that whole story as I firsty heard it was to sign him but im sure Mat Kendrick wrote in the mail that it was a trial?

I understand Mike Bassett has joined the scouting team too following a long spell out of work.

Ladies and gentlemen. Villa will be playing Four-Four-Fucking Two

Mike Bassett had more idea than Eck I fear. At least there is a bit of brilliant poetry and an appreciation of flair.

I fear Eck would be more a fan of the naming of parts.

Ricky Tomlinson would have more of an idea than F'eck.
