Back to transfer rumours, according to the Mirror, Villa's £40k a week wage cap is stopping us going for Fulhams Andy Johnston. Didn't know about the wage cap and if that's the type of player we are really going for we are doomed.

The 40k a week wage cap is clearly bollocks. For a start Bent and Ireland are on more than that, probably Gabby, Given, Dunne and N'Zogbia too.

Yes but would it not have applied to players coming in last summer as well? Given and N'Zogbia for example?

The first 3 yes, the latter, No.  He will be out of contract next summer along with Collins and Dunne

I honestly don't see what is wrong with that.

Megson is an awful manager, yes, but that doesn't mean he can't spot a player, surely?

He's on a good whack, but with only a year left.  So, similar to Dunne, I think a promoted or lower half club maybe interested if we could give them something of a payy off and they'll see it as extending their PL careers, and salaries, for another two to three years.

Apart from the fact that most people did question why MON only bought expensive British based players and seemed allergic to having his scouts use a passport, it's a great point Greg.

I'm more on about people's attitude to the above. Most people saw it as a joke rather than a serious problem, which it was. Now because we're actually employing scouts, they're not up to scratch and another example of why its all gone to pot apparently
