I agree with a lot of the criticism of McLeish but I just don't see how he "kills strikers".
Which wonder weapons did Blose have that he killed, Cameron Jerome? Zigic? Hmmm.

His tactics are negative and strikers probably have less to thrive on, sure. But he doesn't physically go on the pitch and hold them back when they should be running into space, getting on the shoulder of defenders they're twice as quick as and spooning their shots for throw ins. Like I said, sometimes a player has to get his own shit together. Gabby is one of those now, much as I love him.

Fair enough, but you must have saw Gabby's reaction when the ball was punted up field and he tried to challenge for it, then on turning around realising he needed binoculars to see another Villa player.

Exactly correct, he must have looked back virtually the length of the pitch to see 10 Villa players still in there own 18yd box, you could expand on that and say the attempt Gabby had wide of goal where he was caught between a rock and a hard place was again a front man moving into the wide channel with both the possibility of him to have a crack at goal but made more sense to slide the ball straight across the goal expecting someone to be moving in and again there was nobody there, in fact the opposition didn't even need to defend that area right in front of there own keeper because there was zero threat from any other Villa player, I mean that must be unique in Premiership football when the opposition CB doesn't even have to get back into the prone position, hence the ball slide across goal with everybody including the keeper ball watching like it was a flying saucer.

If you want to know how to kill a striker of, then inflict that on him a couple of times a game and see how quick he loses confidence, Bent is suffering from precisely the same thing, fact is McLeish does not know how to set a team up to attack or counter, he doesn't know how to condense a midfield and only just about knows a tad about defending although to be honest I haven't been impressed with that either.

To try and dress it up as a genius style cross is as far fetched as I have seen, it was a poor attempt to slide it far post. For our sake he needs a goal.

Jermaine Beckford wasn't that bad t Everton 10 goal in 38 games, don't remember him starting that much either.

I thought the speed with which Everton got shot of him was very fishy indeed. I wonder if there was something afoot off-pitch?

He's been outed by Leicester pretty quickly too....
Well if he's a homosexual then thats as good a reason as any why not to sign him.

Must you come out with such dated, homophobic, nonsense?
Your taking my comment seriously?

Let's go to Blues and steal Redmond and Mutch. Both good players.

I haven't seen much of Mutch (snigger) but I do like the look of Redmond.

I like the look of Redmond too but in the back of my mind I'm thinking he isn't too much older than Grealish and Graham (and maybe Cameron) and I wouldn't want to have too many obstacles in their way.

Still, it's not a bad shout.

Matt Phillips at Blackpool is a better shout than Redmond.

Yes, agreed. Phillips is a good player. We should go for him.

We do need another winger, so with tight resources I'd be OK with going for someone like Phillips.

Agree Mark, I think you and I have been banging on about Phillips for a while. Exactly what we need.

Linked with some winger from Motherwell this morning. Not a clue about him and never seen him play.

Yep.  It's about this time of year that the tabloids start throwing 84,961,224 darts in the vague direction of a board in the hope of at least one bullseye.
