He scores goals. That's what we needed, that's we paid for. It's up to the club now to set the team up in a way that gives him chances to do what he was bought for.

I dont know if there's anything solid to it but I've heard talk of us going for Michael Owen in the summer.
I'm not sure what I'd think of that to be honest but there you go, thought I'd mention it.

To be honest I'd be more intrigued by signing somebody like Dost and other up and coming starlets with something to prove but there's no doubt that Owen is a great finisher. Maybe as an old hand to rely on if Bent leaves.

Owen is semi retired now, would be a waste of time.

I don't see it Maz unless it is just a one year deal. But even then, his wages would be massive and exactly the type of deal that we are trying to get away from. Also, can't see why he'd want t even come here. He's more into his horses now than football. He's absolutely minted too away from the game, so no real desire either to slum it with the likes of us.

Good point about Racist FC re:Bent. I'd forgot about them. He's certainly good enough for them. But then again, he's black.

I really hope he doesn't end up at Liverpool, as I think he would be good enough to fire them back up the table. They certainly create plenty of chances, and enough for a player like Bent to fill his boots, I think.

I doubt Wee Jimmy Krankie will be getting much pocket money anyway.

There was an article about Owen the other day and he's been playing with 2 out of three hamstrings in one leg since 1999 or something. If he was one of his racehorses he'd have been put down. No wonder he lost his pace and shows how mental the clamour to sign him was a few years back. If we signed him the board would want shooting.

Yeah, I agree there isn't much point when we already have a quality poacher and there are plenty of young strikers we'd be better off chasing.
For what it's worth it was gossip I thought I'd share and nothing more. I was very skeptical too.

Michael Owen is so old he's eligible for winter fuel allowance. He is also the most boring person on Twitter, and that is a crowded fucking field.

Well, from my understanding, our scouting has been restructured (or created if you like) during the summer and so we'll only start to see if or how well its working this summer.

If those clowns at Newcastle can get it so right, then I'm excited by the prospect of us doing it.
I've said this before, but it bears repeating. Newcastle have obviously done a great job, but their first team success has little to do with their scouting. It's to do with their player recruitment which I believe is still Derek Llambias.

A scout can recommend a player, but it is still up to the person in charge of the financing to act on the recommendation. It doesn't take a scout to realise that the best midfielder for the French league Champions, the young French international winger who has played for two of the best sides in Europe, the striker who scores nearly a goal per game in the Premier League for a rubbish West Ham side or the second best striker in the Bundesliga is going to be worth signing.

Anyone who takes a passing interest in European football knew that these players were good, even our scouts (insert your own contradictory joke here).

A scout can recommend whoever they like, it's the manager and Chief Executive who decide whether the advice is worth acting on. At Newcastle they do, at Villa they clearly don't.

Oh Owen is incomparably dull. It's almost as if communication is a necessary evil for him.
I'd taser myself if we exchanged anything more than pleasantries.

Under normal circumstances, the mere suggestion of us signing Michael Owen would be grounds for unmercilous piss taking to whoever advanced it.

However, with our clowns in charge...................

LB= Some foreign cheap good player

Winger= Matt Jarvis

Striker= dost replacement for hesky.

The middle of the park needs the most strengthening. We need a player to sit and dictate the pace, a ball winner and a box to box type.
