I like the Holman deal and the firmer links we've seen seem to suggest a good transfer policy ahead.  But they also mean AM is going nowhere.  Some will see that as a negative, but for me it's a reason to be hopeful that he intends to set our faults right during the summer.

Yes. Encouraging early signs, even if a lot is just speculation at the moment. The way I see it right now, if we're stuck with a manager I consider to be poor, at least if we can bring in a better class of player over the summer, or at least a better class of attitude, we may see some improvement. That's what I'm holding onto now, anyway.

In the overall blame game, the players may be a couple of rungs down but, whatever the game plan, the motivation, the individual instruction, they've got to take responsibility too, and caving in after 20-odd minutes on Saturday shows, again, that too many just aren't up to it.

I wouldn't get too carried away on the Holman deal yet. I really hope he does well but he looks like a steady player, rather than a hidden diamond.

I don't think it's getting carried away, more that Holman at least could be a hidden diamond rather than a proven PL duffer we've paid several million for, or begged on loan!

As well as Dost, has Simon Poulsen been mentioned on here? Danish left back playing for AZ in Holland
Good player.
Has the added bonus of not being Neil Warnock.

Pretty much all left backs have this bonus, even Stephen Warnock himself!

Oops.

I reckon Neil could do better than our Warnock though.

Wish we could sign him.

Scott Sinclair admits he is "happy" at Swansea City as the winger has started negotiations to extend his contract.

Brendan Rodgers has admitted his club are in "light talks" with the England under-21 international, whose current deal ends in the summer of 2013.

Midfielder Leon Britton has already revealed he expects to sign a new contract "in the next week" and the Swans hope Sinclair extends his stay.

"I'm happy and am happy to be playing every week," said Sinclair.

"I have a manager who believes in me and we'll talk at the end of the season."

When asked if his preference was to stay, he said: "Definitely. The manager has brought me in, gave me a chance and that is all I can ask for."

Sinclair signed for Swansea from Chelsea in a £1m deal in August 2010 and the top scorer's 27 goals helped fire the Welsh club to promotion and the Premier League.

The 23-year-old's hat-trick in their Championship play-off final win over Reading inspired the Swans back into the top flight for the first time since 1983.

Sinclair has scored seven times in the Premier League this season and played a key role in their impressive debut campaign as Swansea, who were pre-season favourites for relegation, currently sit in 10th position.

"Scott has made an incredible impact," said Swansea manager Rodgers, who signed a new long-term deal in February .

"He maybe hasn't scored as many goals as he would like this season but he has done very well in terms of his contribution to the team's work-rate and creativity

"He is happy here, I have touched base with him moving forward and hopefully between now and the end of the summer we can formulate a deal."

Phil Neville said on Twitter yesterday that he was impressed with Swansea, well I think we all are.  He went on to say that in particular he thought Phil Taylor their left back is very impressive.
Taylor is 23 and a Welsh international.  He was the subject of a £1m bid last summer from NUFC and has a year left on his contract.  Given that we need a left back..............

For me John, i really don't care now where we finish as long as we aren't relegated. It may as well be 17th, I just want to see the back of this season. As much as many would like to see the end to the McLeish era, it isn't happening this summer. He will be backed, I think our transfers will be interesting and imaginative, and I hope it will signal an end to many of the old guard at the club. McLeish needs new faces and players that are not only loyal to him, but that will inject some positivity into the club and fans.

I'm obviously a bit on the optimistic (naive maybe) side but I really want to see some good things happening at the club. Dare I say it, even a shock signing of a quality player from the Euros. I might be getting a little carried away now.

Neil Taylor has been very impressive. As have most of their first eleven. Rodgers is doing a great job. But, we've seen this before with the likes of Wigan in their first season, Reading etc. For the want of using a terrible cliche, second season syndrome is an interesting one...

A new left back has to be a priority.

Warnock is so poor that I'd sell him for some magic beans. Just quite how a player can be beaten by every single bloody diagonal ball over him is beyond me.

He was particularly poor in the 2nd half on Saturday.  Towards the end of the game he just booted the ball high up on the left, he had time, he didn't look, just whacked it up there to nobody.  There were three of ours in the center including Collins who had gone up, all three put their hands up in astonished desperation.  Warnock did like wise.  An admission of his own uselessness or was it him thinking aimlessly punting it to nobody is what he should have done?

We need to replace him.

Can anybody honestly see Heskey or Warnock getting in any other prem starting 11?

Because he doesn't trust himself to kick a ball with his right foot.  Every friggin time a diagonal ball comes over and it's there to be cleared with his "wrong foot" he will watch it sail over his head.    The amount of goals we have conceded that way in the last two seasons is frightening.

It amazes me that Professional Footballers, with all the spare time they have on their hands, don't work on improving their weaker foot.   They have one of the true greats coaching them, who was equally adept using right or left foot, they ought to try and emulate him.   I guess they are all too busy on twatter or some such thing to worry about stuff like that though?.

Clearly in the last half an hour he's looked into us and found out that he's not interested in us because we're shit. Thats what other sites are reporting, stings I know but very true.
