We needed another option on the wing with N'Z and Albrighton. It'll mean Gabby might get more time as a striker, who knows... he might even score a goal...

Wouldn't be a popular one would it?  Looks like Nursery adding 2+2 and geting 37, can't see it myself but then again I said the same about our manager so who knows??!

Johnson is useful. But, he's the wrong side of 30.

Oooooh he started with his drinking
When he first hung up his boots
He hangs around Liege, pissed up
'cos he's proud of his Belgian roots

My old man's a Bosman
He wears a Bosman hat
He won a famous ruling
But he lives in a council flat

Say what you like about him as a manager, but I very much doubt Alex is stupid enough to do that.

Well he's over the hill and injury prone and exactly the sort of player we should be avoiding.

I'd rather give Weimann a shot, or even Delfouneso.

I'd also rather we looked at a few players from some of the over achieving clubs, like Danny Graham, Nathan Dyer etc.

just think Bosman must be one of the most well known footballers of all time,
bet he didnt think of that when he was making his stand

I believe he lives in a council flat in Liege and has had alcohol troubles since retiring.

He should have played for the rags.

well, he lives in a villa with swimming pool tbh. Other than that, he's skint. He gets around 700 quid benefits. Mark Van Bommel has been quoted of lately willing to help him out of misery.

Sounds a bit like our Villa, without the swimming pool

Birmingham Mail

Alex McLeish admits he has previously considered signing Pavel Pogrebnyak amid reports the Aston Villa manager is planning a summer swoop for the Fulham striker.

Pogrebnyak joined Fulham from Stuttgart in the January transfer window and has made an immediate impact in the Premier League, scoring five goals in four appearances.

The Cottagers are keen to hang on to the Russian beyond this season, but he has also been linked with a move to Villa Park.

McLeish concedes the timing was not right during his attempts to sign the 28-year-old in the past and is wary about saying too much about any interest in Pogrebnyak.

"Fulham did well in January and brought Pavel Pogrebnyak into the set-up," said the Villa boss in the Birmingham Mail.

"He is a player who I've seen and have been in touch with his agent over the past few years trying to sign him but the timing was just not quite right.

"Will the timing be right in the summer?

"I don't want to be in the bad books with Fulham talking about their player. He's a player I flirted with in the past but I shouldn't really be talking about someone else's player.

"I need to be careful what I'm saying here because my players will be reading this. We are lacking a bit of experience and hopefully that is something we can put right."
