We need more than that. Look at how we have been wrecked by injury this season and last.

Taking into account the big wages some of them are on, I can see the following leaving in the summer:

Heskey
Dunne
Warnock
Ireland
Makoun
Delfouneso
Delph
Guzan
Marshall

I can also see Gabby and Cuellar leaving, but if those two don't leave (which I hope they don't) by my calculations we would be left with a first team squad of 18 players.  That would mean we would need to bring another seven in to get us up to the 25 which sounds about right and I think the priority positions are:

2nd choice keeper
Left back
2 central midfielders
2 wingers (Holman being one)
Striker

We should also use our loan signing a bit more wisely than this season and maybe bring in cover where it is needed.

I would go with that, although add a centre back and extra forward should Gabby go.

If we went down anyone with any self-respect would get the hell out of this poisonous franchise. But I think the bigger question is who would want to jump on  board? A Championship-level has been with a £40k cap, Alex McLeish at the helm and sub-30k attendances in the Premier League. That 32,200 figure today was a blatant lie.

I hope Randy really gave the Villa some thought on his streamliner back to the States. We've become prioritized, and put on a billionaires back burner. With NFL Draft Day looming, I doubt he really gives a rats ass about a bunch of angry Brits and their football.

He came to a game that he thought we would win and boy was he wrong. He was bound to turn up sooner or later, and I'm happy he picked that dreary Tueaday evening.

It's time to address the mess Randy. Stop procrastinating, you coward.

I almost feel bad for Holman. Flourishing at AZ but soon to be another duck in a row.

Holman won't be coming if we go down so that's sorted.

I was just about to ask about this.

Do we know if the pre-contract agreement has a relegation opt-out ?

it's pointless anyone coming weith these cupid stunts at the helm. Why would any half decent player want to commit to this shambles and be shackled with a manager who makes Fred Flintstone look cultured? FFS! In two year's we've gone from the club most admired for its the sympathetic, benevolent ownership to an object of derision and if  this miind numbing dross carries on much longer, we won't have a club to care about.

If we go down, I would keep Weimann, Clark (hopefully) Albrighton, Delfouneso, Gardner and some of the 'senior' players who aren't quite up to the Premier League, but maybe will fidn their level in the Championship, the likes of Warnock and Hutton. If they are willing to take a pay cut.

I wonder how our Aussie signing from the Dutch league is feeling about joining us now.  In fact, could there be a clause put in place from his agent that the deal is off if we go down?  Just a thought.

I was thinking the same thing the other day.  He must have some clause in there to say  the deal is off should we get relegated.  If i were him, i wouldnt want to play for us.

Look I don't know for sure but any contract in these circumstances would routinely have this in place to cover both player and Club.

So my guess it would however we'll still get stitched up for compensation owing to Holman and his agent for loss of negotiating time with other Clubs when the contract becomes void.

This is Lerner's Villa we're talking about after all.  Nothing surprises me in our ability to get things wrong.

What about the Macron deal?  They came in for us on the basis we will be playing Premiership football.  Say if we get relegated, then what?

I expect we have some sort of arrangement in place whereby we pay his wages for four years and he is allowed to go and play for another club.

Seems to be our way of doing things.
