My oh my this is dire. Struggling to stay awake here. Positives, look quite tight at the back today. Back to sleep.

Think we look tight at the back because Wigan have got no cutting edge.
Good job Wigan are shit because a half decent side would kill us today.
Is a point good enough?

Need to bring on N'Zogbia for Albrighton and Ireland for Bannan. If that means bringing on Herd for Gardner, so be it.

I can see Heskey coming on before those 2. It's the Alex way.

I'm just so impressed with what Pardew has done. Yeh, they'll take a tonking every so often like last week. But by having an attack first mentality and a good scouting system finding technically sound players they will always have a better than even chance against the majority of the teams in this league. It's a mindset thing and I'm tired of watching hit on the break football as a first tactic. It's exciting when you have the guns to play that way when you need to, but when you don't just get sucked deeper and deeper until you concede.

We have the players in the squad to be much better than this. I still contend we are one of the slowest teams overall in key positions, but we should never be playing this bad despite that.

The commentator just said Villa came out for the 2nd half 5 mins early.  McLeish obviously didn't think they needed much of a team talk.  Operation 0-0 is going to plan.

Not the biggest surprise, we have a very imbalanced team.

One centre back, one dobbin, two half soaks, a winger, two central midfield and three strikers.

I'd bring on Herd and Ireland for Albrighton and Bannan and match them up for numbers in central midfield. Move Keane out wide left and switch Gabby to the right.

Why when you got Heskey and a manager who loves him

When did we manage to become so utterly, utterly poor?

McLeish makes the Houllier era look like 1981.
