I think we're due a major clear out, however Carlos is a player who should be kept to help the new players bed in. From the start he has been played wildly out of position but has never complained. I think he'd have been twice the player for us if he'd been allowed to stay at centre back from the start. Despite what MON and The Oaf think, a player is likely to lose confidence if asked to play in a position in which he is uncomfortable.

Happy with this as I like Carlos.

Makes sense to keep Carlos and try to bin the other two....Carlos can play centre back and both full backs positions pretty well...can you imagine the sight of Dunne or Collins playing right or left back?!

He is 30 though so wouldn't offer more than a 2 year deal.

I thought we wanted to reduce the wage bill?

We'll need to pay what he is on, or close to it, to replace him, plus a transfer fee.  So this will effectively save money, if he signs.

Exactly.

Carlos leaves so we need a centre back who can also play at right back.

QPR go down so Nedum Onouha becomes a target as he can play both positions. He'd cost 3-4m and it's fair to say he's on a bigger whack than what Carlos gets here.

It makes sense to try to get him to stay but if he wants to go back to Spain fair enough.

In other news, looks like Samba is off to Russia tomorrow to join Anzi.

my pal reckons that AM can't go public on what he thinks of certain others as he wants to try and sell them in the summer.

It never stopped John Gregory.

Well it did actually. How many players did JG sell? Mainly he left behind old, overpaid players with no sell-on value and it took all of GT MK2 and most of DOL for the club to recover financially.

Always thought Carlos wanted to go back to Rangers - but considering they will be relying on sales of the big issue to keep afloat i doubt they could afford him - so seems natural that as he hardly plays he is very much out of the shop window so he may as well stay

Agreed, there is not a chance he heads off to Rangers anytime soon given their plight. At the moment I would say it is 50/50 between him resigning (hopefully for two years or so) or moving back to Spain.

'Wildly' out of position? He played for a while at right back, and was pretty decent at it, it's not like we did a Scimeca on him and stuck him up front with Benty is it?

Im far from criticising him, He isn't a natural full back. He's regularly turned inside out and is not fast enough in attack, although to his credit he's better than the Chuckle Brothers put together.

Are the Chuckle brothers Dunne and Collins or Hutton and Warnock?

Don't know about The Chuckle Brothers, but Warnock is certainly Terry Fuckwit from Viz.

Dumb and Dumber = Hutton and Warnock
