Look how well he has got Sunderland going with their bunch of cast offs like Bentner, Larsson, O'Shea, Gardner, Brown, Bardsley, Richardson etc.
There's multiple league, FA Cup and European medals between that lot of cast offs.

This amused me...

I don't know this soccer coach, but by the picture in the article he already looks like a better coach as he is animated and doesn't look dumbfounded.

... Doesn't sound like our Alex. Who frequently looks dumbfounded.

There really are some classic comments on the Browns news-thread:

What's next? Boating lessons from the captain of the Costa Concordia?

This arrangement makes perfect sense: both coaches are in charge of teams that don't use their hands to catch a ball when it comes their way.

As laughable as this is, we should be thankful it's not the other way around, where Shurmur is sent to England.

are three that stand out.

The chairman and manager are both supposedly friends of the most successful manager in English football, but decide to fly to the USA for some tips on a different sport,  instead of driving a couple of hours to Manchester.
I would have hoped he would spend the time sorting the defence out.

I have a feeling Lerner has convinced Mcleish to have plastic surgery and after announcing he has sacked him will re install the "new manager" as an up and coming genetically modified "super manager" called Columbus Brown .......

Our franchise needs work there too.

I just think Lerner is a dickface who doesn't know what he is doing. That's usually the way it is with second generation money.

I admire the candour and astute observation.

He's utterly preoccupied with homosexuality. He's always on about it when soccer (or anything else he doesn't like) gets mentioned. As a couple of people on the thread have alluded to, he may in fact be a closet dweller. I'm hoping that he doesn't get the irony of him calling football 'gay', when he follows a sport that is essentially a sweaty game of catch.

I think he must be a Mod on there cos I had a long banter with him yesterday which ended in all my posts being removed. To him "Soccer" is "gay," and everyone who doesn't agree with him is a "homo." He really doesn't get the primitiveness of his ideas, and doesn't seem to want to either. A very strange, unconstructed  and arrogant fellow.

I got that impression as well... Soccer is "gay" being the worlds favourite sport... Ah Americans and their made up sports...

If football is gay, what does that make their curious rugby-with-protective clothing-  borefest? Joan Collins would like those shoulder pads though. Impressive.

Most of their sports just seem to be filler, something to cram in between ad breaks.

What does that even mean? Surely every sport is "made up"?

Anyone who uses "gay" or "homo" or any other type of homophobic slur as an insult in 2012 is a complete and utter fuckwit and unworthy of much attention. Dazzyg for example.
